I didn't mean to restore it; not worth it for the posible return.
I'd just like it to retain some resemblance of what it is. That is, keep the hard top, which, as you state, you plan to keep the body as is, sorta .
At least congrats to you for not letting it disappear into a rust pile. And no diesel
There's a point where almost any car is no longer worth restoring, even as a semi-purist, I've advocated a few changes to "classic-appearing " cars, just to see them still on the road, and not made into soup cans...
I even bid on a London taxi cab with Toyota running gear!

Yeah, I definitely think the body will be mostly unchanged. Although I will have to fabricate a steel roof, the wood framework is almost gone it appears. If I could find a way to keep the wagon wheels and put wide meats on em I'd do that too. If I were a rich man I'd have somebody make a billet set and have them faux painted.
Still really tossing around alot of ideas, plans will develop more when I see the car. Im also technically on a 1 year hiatus from car projects so I have alot of time to think and plan.

A Nash should really have a Kenosha-built motor,IMO. I think an AMC 4.0/4.2 with Clifford/Weber DCOEs with a Chrysler/AMC Torqueflight would be very nice for a resto-driver.
+eleventybillion, except use the 5 speed from a 2wd jeep.

Its gonna be a cruiser so I think I actually prefer and auto. Soooo many ideas....keep em coming, I'm trying to out weird myself.
What year is that? A friend has an International Harvester with similar/same wheels and has issues.
Were these used elsewhere?
BTW, if a purist suggested a swap what do you lack?

Um...do you mean what does the car lack to be complete?
Structural integrity. But seriously. From what I can tell everything is there, but I think the engine is shot, has been sitting with the head removed for quite some time. There are boxes of parts containing everything that was removed. I havent picked it up yet so I cannot vouch that all the glass is in tact. Needs floors.
It would be an ambitious project...hell even as a rod its a bit ambitious. But if a certain purist suggested certain swaps I could be intrigued.
Here's another idea--still all Kenosha.

Seriously--a 360 is kind of a dime-a-dozen too. Even the basic 71-91 8.5CR motors take nicely to basic bolt-ons--and if you get some 70 heads or aftermarket (Edlebrock etc.) ones, they really wake up--like mid-upper 400's for power, and a ton of torque.

Not really ruling anything out but Im almost steering toward something non-V8 on this. I guess I just enjoy the weird.

I still like the AMC I-6 best. They truly are great motors--very stout. If you do go V8, the AMC will be the most 'appropriate' motor for a Nash, and it really kind of is wierd in its own right, just because it's an AMC, and no one but AMC guys use them--you never see an AMC V8 in some other half-breed project, but there are plenty of non-AMC engines in AMXs/Javelins etc.

Miata?
Weird straight sixes? Jag 4.0 (early XJRs had a supercharged 6!), BMW, Mercedes.
If going auto find one with overdrive.
As soon as I saw that grill, I knew it was a Nash.
For years, my school bus drove past an overgrown farm yard that had a Doodlebug tractor parked beside the road. I stared at it every day. One day, I rode my bike out there for a closer look and saw "Nash" on the grill. It would be another 20 years before I knew what a Doodlebug was.

have fun with an engine that weighs more than the car...
That car is begging for a 4200 vortec and a turbo.
A car that size would look great with a big inline in it to fill the long engine bay. American I6 would work and has been done. I say go with Jag.

Why stop there? Lets use a Jag 12. Actually the Jag straight 6 (and rear from same donor) is in my potential thought pool as well.

I approve of this thought pool.
The answer is BMW S50 B32. Done.
