Park Heights and Halethorpe are full of Earl Sheib equivalent shops.

Count me in for the plastidip. Only other thing I can suggest is get some plastic sheets, tape, compressor, spray gun, primer, and paint and have at it in your garage.

What did GRM spend on the WRX re-paint? I can never find what they pay for this type work as they always farm it out to Tom(?) their local paint. Don't know if it's a special deal and not magazine worthy, or if they are spending all the money on paint because it's a magazine car? Cost is a huge consideration- I've painted a car before and would rather spend $500 on good paint and do it myself than the same or more than $1500 to have crappy materials put on by a pro.

I'm considering doing our wrx one panel at a time, one weekend at a time. Could probably be done in a month of weekends and have a pretty high quality repaint.

Can we get an update? My wife's car has some clear coat failure on the roof as well as some major bubbles from a poor respray on the doors. Considering Maaco as it;s a 2005 Corolla.

It did the job. Ended up $800 with bodywork. Biggest issue was that they got the color WAY wrong. They said that they used the code, but somebody berkeleyed something up. It was way more of a pale yellow, so you could totally see in the jams that it was a respray. Irritating because the wife really wanted a color change, but I talked her out of it because mis-matched door jams suck. Lotta good that did me.

That said, the $800 paint job bought me 2 more years before she decided she was done with it, and it got me probably close to what I spent on the resale since it still showed very well for it's age, so all in all it was worth it.

Pic from when I sold it a couple months ago -

Any issues with chipping or anything? Why $800? Seems to be quite a bit more than the usual charge.

Second this. Cheap. reliable. Easily patched. Change car colors like women change hair colors... All shades. Spray with the HF 8.99$ gun. Anyone that tells you "plastidip ruins paint" is mentally challenged and has no experience with said product.

Edit: just noticed this thread is ancient. But I stand by my statement.

That sounds good but my wife's corolla has some paint problems that would need to be addressed before plastidip.

Nah, no issues with the paint quality outside of the color. IIRC the price was the $499 paint, and then they charge extra for a full sand job, and they spent a couple hours fixing some dings.
