OK, I'm washing the car and using a sprayer on the hose that has a hand trigger on the back. After rinsing off the car I drop the hose so I can grab my washing mitt out of the bucket.
Can you see this coming? Hasn't this happened to you at least once?
The dang sprayer lands on the trigger and shoots me up the ass with a jet of water. Got it once in the face yesterday, too.
I've got to find a better way....

I saw it coming, but that's never happened to me. I'm pretty cognizant of where I put the sprayer.
Maybe you could build a little sprayer-rest?
Million dollar idea, a sprayer halo, you know like you put on the dog except for the hose (or hoes, depenting where you are coming from)
meh, my pissed off thread was better
and yes, I've done that on many occasions.
BTDT a few times. I have gotten to where I hang it on the edge of the bucket, or let my 6yo hold it. Which works pretty good until he decides to spray me.

I've got an old sprayer with the trigger on the inside, (pull type) and when it breaks, I will find a way to repair it

My 17 month old LOVES when that happens. To him, too.
I use one of those older twist type models.

Mine only does that about 90% of the time.

Mmm, I like that idea. Though Griot's insists it is only a poor imitation of their ridiculously expensive version.

It's funny usually griots stuff it just spastically expensive, however this

Actually seems reasonable. I've seen brass chinese ones for $5-7 a coupler, at $10 if it's super quality, which i suspect it is, it really doesn't seem bad.
Minor annoyance in July - sucks in January.
That's why I use firehose style nozzles, or more usually, don't use a nozzle at all, and kink the hose and shove it in between the spokes to hold it that way when I want to not be spraying water.
Oh well, better to be pissed off than pissed on!
I haz the ultimate nozzle and it's amazing! So now I never have the nozzle take me in the ass :)
If that doesn't make the highlight reel in the mag, I don't know what will. lol
It used to happen to me all the time. Then I quit washing my cars a few years ago and it isn't an issue anymore.

8 year olds CAUSE that to happen...and happen...and happen...
Remember, why are kids cute? So they'll survive to adulthood without parents killing them :)

Northern Tool has these on sale for $15. I bought one and used it today. I liked it. Great quality, very easy to use. Puts out a good, controllable stream with infinite adjustment of the spray.
And it didn't shoot me in the ass. Not once.
I can't see how the Griot's version could possibly be worth $75 more.
I had that happen with a fire extinguisher once!
I remember going to the carwash once and using the brush... turned it on, and nothing.... 10 seconds later.. nothing.. 20 seconds later nothing.. I turn it over to check and see if something was blocking it.. and got a face full of suds as it had decided now was the perfect oppertunity to work.
As for the hose squirting you in the arse... I use a twist type too.. they are nice as you can just turn them enough to lightly spray or trickle all the time
+1 for the firehose style nozzle.
After the first time I made this same mistake I didn't bother changing the nozzle or anything, I just stopped dropping the hose. From then on, I just set the hose down gently. Problem solved and money spent = $0
As a general rule, I like to take care of my E36 M3 to make sure it will last forever. "Dropping" the hose on the concrete warranted an ass-whipping when I was growing up. Lay the hose nozzle on the ground rather than throwing it there. You won't get water-assed, and you won't be buying a new nozzle every year.
