Get the intraweb panties out of a bunch......I was obviously kidding, granted the late 70's aspens and such were worthy of this list. And yes, I know what the spirit RT is.....I don't think of anything FWD is a muscle car anyways. The viper is the mythical beast I mentioned.

Trolling in jest is still trolling, d00d.

I would call the turbo Chrysler stuff arguably a "musclecar" anyway. It's domestic, boring, massmarket sedans that were made a lot faster through parts-bin engineering. No, they don't spin the correct wheels, and no, they aren't V8 powered, but aside from that they are true to the original musclecar formula.

I think "musclecar" has kind of had its definition diluted over time, anyway. IIRC, it was originally limited to a midsize domestic 2-door sedan or hardtop with a big V8. GTO, Road Runner, whatever the hot Fairlane was, etc. It's kind of been expanded now to any early 60's-late 70's domestic with a V8 and any sporting pretensions.

NINJA EDIT- I wouldn't call the Viper a musclecar, although it's a lot closer to one than most sports cars are.

And that's considered whimpy. But a car that everyone loves, the AE86 Corolla did 0-60 in 10.4 and a quarter mile in 18.4. It all comes down to what you expect, I guess. Huh, just looked and the X-11 numbers are virtually identical to an '82 Corvette.

That was pretty quick for the early 80's. I think that would be faster than a contemporary Z28 or Mustang GT, wouldn't it? IIRC, the '82 Z28 turned something like 17 flat in the quarter...

In reply to psteav:

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I remember when the Citation came out (my dad bought an '80) and reading about the X-11. I thought it was pretty awesome, and the performance was impressive. From what I understand, they handle (or can be made to) pretty well too. But, if people appreciated all the odd-ball cars I like, they'd all cost as much as 86s. Guess I should be happy that Yahoo drives the prices down!

Indeed it is......not bad for being built in a shed with truck parts and assembled with only a hammer.

That said, they are(well, were), a true drivers car. None of the nannys, until recently no auto's(kept the old guy posers mostly away), etc.....I still dislike the gen 1 hood release though

I'm ashamed to say that once upon a time I considered an X-11, but only because it did really well at autocross in its day - seriously. Fortunately, poverty saved me.

An X-11 won the SCCA Showroom Stock B title in the early '80s. I did some research, Bob McConnell drove it, and it was the Heinrocket's first ride.

10 was a catch all 73-92 of all mopars......

1992 you say? Reminds me of the Chrysler ad that featured the Lambo Diablo, Viper, Stealth R/T TT, Daytona IROC R/T, Spirit R/T, Laser RS Turbo, Talon TSi, and probably something else im forgetting. All were 14 second cars or better at a time when that was fast, and the Viper was a 12 second car back when that was insane.

Id post the pic but it's surprisingly hard to find on the internet.

I believe a Northstar was a popular conversion. That'd be darn cool! Shoot, now you got me googling and I have the weirdest desire to get something like this:

And add something like this:
