Ok since all of you are the car and craigslist gurus, I figured this would be the best place to get opinions. I'm looking for a car in the Houston, Tx area. The parameters I'm looking at are: - fast (I would like to use it for fun daily drives and some track days so handling and speed are a factor) - under $5k - no 2 seaters - I'm a pilot so I need enough room to carry my suitcase and flight case - I only really drive to and from the airport which is 10 miles one way - reliability is a factor also because I don't have a garage to work on it in I think that is about it. I look forward to seeing all your opinions. Thanks all

98-up Pontiac Grand Prix's and '00-up Monte Carlo's, but only those that have the 3.8. The 3.4 is a problematic POS. Just make sure the recall has been done tho. I would hate to see it spontaneously combust down into nothing. Only big downside is automatic only.

But then again that would be my choice. Every parts store in the country carries parts for them. Easy to work on. The transmission can be flaky, but every mechanic has seen at least one at some point.

My mom has a 99 gtp, it's rather unimpressive. Maybe a BMW?

Find out what "minor problems" means to the seller and take that off the price. http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/2486427839.html
Not ultra fast but can handle well. Great commuter as well with spacious hatch.

+1 for the SVT

Anvil reliability, deceptively quick for what they are, and easy on the maintenance.

Can't believe I missed that on in the search.

aussiesmg: Aren't you the guy that didn't read my post about the X3 and kept suggesting the wrong car, like you did here when he said "no two seaters?"
