I've never seen an engine head shaped like that on anything so small before, it looks kind of like the head shape you see on huge marine/rail/generator engines with the tall separated sides and individual valve covers.

That big hole on the end is where you put the rope for your anchor.

Okay, here's another one!  Obviously not a front end per the ad.  What is it?

Diff is tiny. I was thinking 2002 as well.

The 2002 has a similar type of suspension but it's not a match...

Edit: 2002 rear suspension for reference:

It does look BMW-ish to me. E21?

It's european, i'm sure.

My 850 Spider was similar but it uses a transaxle not a differential.

Using a cleaned version of the photo yielded mostly BMW using google image search, but no exact match for the mounting point of the control arm

Ford big block.  But the adjustable rockers are throwing me off.  And I don't know what size engine.

Since Ford has different big blocks I will add that it in the FE engine family.

You're saying it is an FE?  Cause I thought on all of them the pushrods went through the intake.

In reply to Mr_Asa :

I think it is an FE, the intakes are wide and form the upper part of the valve cover sealing face, and locates the pushrods.  The location and angle of the intake bolts are the big giveaway.  This may give a better view, you can see the cut line between the intake and the head.

EDIT:  Much better picture of the intake/head interface from the interwebs.

Ahh.  I see the bolt heads now.  Gotcha.

Well, if it's an FE then everyone knows its gotta be a 390.

Ford only put adjustable rockers on solid lifter engines, no?

So it may be a high performance engine.... or it may be an old 332 or 352.

Curious if anybody can make out the part number on the intake manifold. FEs were weird in that performance heads all had specific intake manifolds.  All that I can make out is that the part number starts with C3AE meaning 1963 first year of use, Galaxie product line.  But then, anybody with a cherrypicker can swap intakes.
