Maybe the Dodge Charger that we featured earlier is still too mainstream for a cop car. How about going with a Chevy, such as this Camaro, which comes with a Police Pursuit package.

This Camaro comes with a “special” 5.7-liter V8 and six-speed manual. Add to that heavy-duty brakes, cooling, steering and suspension.

As you may imagine, this Camaro was …

Way cool. Cars with "pursuit packages" are some of my favorites.

Didn't know you could ge a B4C in a manual. Very cool piece. Wonder what the " heavy duty brakes" are comprised of.

I think once the facelift hit all the fbodies received the same brakes. v6 to v8 cars. Maybe a different pad compound?

Cool. But the cars I've seen that were long term residents of the GM proving grounds led pretty hard lives. Though they were well maintained.

Seems to be sitting up with a bit higher ride height with those "cop springs".

Came here to say the same thing.  Unless this was a factory COPO or one-off, there were no street B4Cs that had a six speed from my understanding.  I wonder if it was swapped.

I'm also wondering if it ever saw police service.  I don't see holes for the radio mounts, the button panel, and it has a CD player.

Then again... I'm not a B4C expert.

3,271 miles. That was a long chase.

Kinda neat. But also 4th-gen F-Bodies are total E36 M3boxes, even the nice ones. I'm always amazed at the prices that people pay for them. Bad styling, terrible ergonomics, interiors that fall apart at a stern glance, wretched to work on, flimsy unibodies, glass rear differentials, weak automatic transmissions, the aluminum-block 5.7L isn't that great (small bore size, can't be overbored much).

I have finally found someone else who doesn't drink the F-body kool aid.  I always found them to be limp noodles.  Weak rear axles, floppy unibody, terrible visibility.  We used to have one at the shop that we used for a drag rat, and about every 10th launch we would shatter the windshield from body flex.

We got about thirty 500-hp launches out of the axle before it ejected the carrier bearing webs and left the diff on the track.

I wanna know what berking moron thought that the G-Body Hurst/Olds, with it's screaming 140hp 307, needed the 8.5" 10-bolt, but then thought that the 7.625" 10-bolt was sufficient in fourth-gen F-bodies with 305hp LS1.

Hey, you take that back! I like the styling of the pre-facelift ones. The ergonomics -- okay, the ergonomics weren't great and the windshield had a crazy rake. But the interiors were -- okay, yeah, the interiors were garbage too. But they weren't that bad to work on! Unless you had to change the Opti-spark, work on the cooling system, transmission, engine (including spark plugs), or anything else. Aside from everything, they were fine to work on. The rear diffs were solid. I know, because after the 6th time I helped my buddy replace his it didn't fail again once he swapped the diff! Also, the 4L60E transmission definitely transmitted. I remember doing a shift kit to one, which helped the shifting. Until it broke. But until it broke it worked just fine!

Brandon, ummm. You're not helping. You're funny, but not helping. Then again, whatever.  Let's take this New Years opportunity to point out what does work. Machines break, some more than others. Nice with humor though. Happy New Year.
