This 1977 Fiat X1/9 has been maintained by an SCCA road racing regular. It has about 45,000 miles on the clock and just a little bit of rust.

Seen a cool car for sale that we should feature? Email us the link.

The X1/9 really has a pretty shape. Soon after I graduated from college, I checked out one that was for sale--you know, as a second car. Never mind the fact that I lived in a studio apartment and barely had two nickels to rub together.

Can any other car claim it was the daily driver for two F1 drivers at the same time?

We looked at a few before deciding on a Datsun 2000, and then later getting an Alfetta GT.

Somehow, my mom had a contact in Idaho Falls for the most enthusiastic X1/9 owner in the entire state. He helped a lot.

But we looked at one that was in a field with a broken timing belt and a lot of work, later one that was a good car. I still think of those cars.

If you can believe it, while driving back from the 2004 Challenge, we spoke over the phone before parting in southern Ohio about doing an X1/9.

After all of this time, my 3 challenge cars I could justify- 1) Alfa- duh. 2) X 1/9- wife has a bias toward Italian cars, too, 3) Miata.

And now I've had daydreams of a DP X 1/9 powered by a turbo for the original engine, or NA with an Integra 2.0l. Great car.

Let me know if you need a shell for your dp car that is already in Detroit. (We have an extra!)

Yea, I know. What I lack is motivation to do another challenge car.

I also know where I can get some subframes from a Miata as a good starting point.

Johnny- given your name here, I'm surprised that you still try to race Yugos.

Thanks for expanding the signal for my friend... If I wasn't already trying to pair down the number of cars in my driveway I would consider it.
