At one point, SCCA Improved Touring S competition was a big deal: Datsun 240Z vs. 13B-powered Mazda RX-7. We were there in the trenches with you all.

An opportunity to relive some of those glory days? We just spied this ITS-class Mazda RX-7 on Facebook Marketplace.

It’s in Sarasota, Florida, and might need a bit of work before returning to …

I wonder if the family of raccoons who live in that car have bothered to get their regional licenses.

*sees second picture*  Oh

JG comment to me: Think it’ll even roll off the trailer?

And I’d love to see this car’s logbook. The stickers says it’s from the Southeast, and we had some powerhouse shops down here, including Speedsource. Wonder who built this one, and I’m guessing JG and I saw it race somewhere.

That car is eligible for vintage racing, isn't it?

Would be some work to rehab it, but with logbook and history, it should be an easy in.  And given the platform's history in racing, it should be a reasonable car to vintage race in terms of cost, right?

I wouldn't touch that car for more than $500.  At least you could get most of your money back in scrap value if it turns out the rust runs too deep.

Yeah, I think some historic groups would accept it. Maybe not Goodwood but HSR.

3k.

They want 3000 genuine American pesos for that.

Does that 3 grand include the plot of land into which the car is presently returning?

I have owned about 12 2nd gen rx7s.

That one has some rust in some weird places.

Run away.  I wouldn't take that car if it was given to me.  I can only imagine what the rockers look like.

The engine is almost certainly crap.

There are a few parts for these cars that are NLA.

If it was a $300 Car and i needed some body parts, I'd probably scoop it up.

To race...  he'll no.

I'm local to this car and am avoiding it like the plague. Rarely am I not tempted, but this is one of those times.

I was thinking it might be a good car to pick up. You would just need to jack up the radiator cap and pull another car under it.

Then I saw that something chewed the radiator out of it.

They really disappeared when Mazda pulled the plug. Social media and web presence was wiped without warning.

A few years ago Sylvain Tremblay listed a DPi chassis on some racing classifieds sites like Racingjunk.

I will never get to that point in my life.  Letting a car sit for more than a year starts to eat at me.

The spoiler is a pretty desirable piece. It's functional. If the other bits of the aero kit are still there, that'd be incredible.

Probably since the car was caged, assuming it has NASCAR-style door bars.

Wasn't there a race winning RX-7 with that number back in the 90s?
