If it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing, right? So why not drop a 5.0-liter Ford V8 into a ’79 Volvo wagon–and then cam it and supercharge it for good measure?

In addition to that, this Volvo 245 also features a T5 manual gearbox, Holley Sniper EFI, Sparco seats, BC Racing coil-overs, BBS wheels, upgraded brakes from a 244 Turbo, and …

In reply to Janitor_genie :

Depends on what car it came out of. I think the world-class T5s could stand up to quite a bit more abuse.

If it helps the listing mentions that the engine and transmission came from an '84 Mustang GT.

It really needed the battery relocated to the trunk?  For what, better weight distribution?!?  All joking aside, I do like this one and it just needs a new coat of paint. My 242 had the same headlights--memories...

I have a 1974 142 Autocross car with a T-5 in it. (kept blowing up Volvo transmissions) The car is gutted and weighs 2250lbs. 5 gallon fuel cell, aluminum radiator and 4.11:1 Dana 30 with positraction. Engine bored 0.125, forged aluminum pistons, 11.5 to 1 compresssion, stainless valves (44 mm intake, 38mm exhaust) Iskendarian Cam, double valve springs, dual Weber 45 DCOE carbs, 4 point cage, harnesses, adjustable Konis, stiffer springs, 1" front bar, 3/4" rear. redlines at 7400. I dyno 135 to the ground. 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. With the T-5 I would love to put a small block ford 5.0 in it but I don't think it will fit. At least not easily. Street legal in Texas.

Nice car! Can you elaborate on which exactly Konis have in the car? I'm in the process of rebuilding an old 142 race car for vintage racing. Thanks
