Grab the fam and let’s move about in style. Maybe not speed but style.
Up for sale: a 1985 Honda Civic “tall boy” wagon with the five-speed stick.
As billed in the ad, it’s a one-owner survivor with 170,000 miles on the clock.
One look at those seats, though, and you’ll fall in love.

My bad everyone. A link to the ad has been added.
If anyone here buys it, you are required to start a build thread.
Hey Tom, what say we get this, K-swap it, and dominate the SUV class at One Lap next year?
It looks amazingly clean, and new tires too (you can see the sticker on the tread of one tire in the photos.) A friend had the AWD version of the tall wagon years ago, I thought that was a pretty neat combination.
In reply to ianmcc : is this your vehicle? I'm very interested

I can't believe how clean those seats are!
Is that the model with the goofy PITA 3 barrel carb?
170k miles and looks brand new, hell there doesnt even seem to be any rust!
If someone does K-swap it, please keep the original paint and interior.
Ahead of its time. A CRV in the making.

Those tall wagons–insert your favorite Japanese OE–very much were ahead of their time.
I had one of these when they were new. It served our needs well and was dependable. Upholstery looked good but the tops of the rear seats had deteriorated pretty badly after 3-4 years. They looked alright but had gotten really fragile, almost like the fabric had rotted.
Who do we need to contact at Honda to offer seats like that as an optional package or something?
It doesn't even need to be a Civic Type R, I'd gladly take those seats in a regular Civic or a CR-V.
So maybe something like this. A rough sketch/photoshop, but I think it gets the point across:
That looks at least a little cool, right?
With more manufacturers moving to more sustainable interiors hopefully cloth seats/inserts will make a comeback.

Maybe something made of recycled plastic, even?
Our friends at Cocomats.com make mats from abandoned fishing nets.
Turbo D16A6>K swap and it's not even close.
There used to be one of those running around near me that had zebra stripes and a set of bull horns on the front.
I wanted that car...
My dad bought one new in 1984. That was a cool little car. I think C&D called it a "closet sports car".
I'd love to have it and am tempted, but Living where I do, I wouldn't own that car for the same reason that I wouldn't own a Fox body Mustang or SC300/400. Theft magnets. Yeah it's kinda homely, but anything rare and Honda....
