The Stampie Rule: We’re sorry that your car is having an issue at the event, but we can no longer turn a blind eye so you can get back in the game. Parts borrowed at the event must be added to the budget at purchase price or fair market value. If two builds elect to share parts at the challenge, such as a set of wheels and tires, then the parts must be included in both builds’ budgets at the full purchase price or fair market value.

In honor of the rule we are bringing and offering to other teams the following:

Rain Tires 215/60/16 on Honda Accord steelies. These require a special washer for normal lug nuts. $50 budget hit wheels and tires and $15 for the washers if Tom is mean and doesn't exempt them.

Autocross slicks 275/35/18 G-Force R1s on American Muscle wheels. ~$365 budget hit.  I'd have to look it up cause the tires are my free ones.  Wheels were $100.

Drag tires 26x11x15 on Jeep 15x7 wheels. $75 budget hit.

All of these are 5x114.3 pattern. Logistics of the rain and autocross tires are much easier but I think the drag tires should be available at the end of the night if you need them.

Wait, I know how to fix this:

Yes, I'd like to borrow them all for the duration of the event. Thanks.

Am I serious? Heck yes I am. They'll fit my Nissan Leaf. I need them.

All jokes aside, this is a nice thing you're doing, and as long as everything is in budget, I welcome anybody to take advantage of this.

This year we’re bringing the following.

18x9 wheels with 275/35/18 R1s 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Budget hit $100 for the wheels and ~$150 tires. .

13x7 wheels with 2013 Toyo Proxies 4x100 bolt pattern.  Budget hit $120 for the wheels and $120 tires.

Those two are freely available with Gabe having first dibs on the 18s.

We will also have 15x7 with Hoosier SM7s in 5x114.3 bolt pattern.  This is the set we’ll be running and I hope to run next year.  I’ll let y’all borrow them but please be gentle. $40 wheels and $13.33 tires budget hit.

Forgot to add that the 18x9 set is for sale at $100 including tires.  Just ask that if you buy them you let Gabe use them also.

Do you have a hub bore diameter on those 18x9s? Datsaniti is hungry for G's

Is one of these the orange wheel set that fits NA/NB Miatae? Because we definitely want to take advantage of the auto-x tire compound.

(Hm, with tire blankets and quick changes, we could even keep them warm between cars...)

Yes the 13s should. Just be aware of the age of the tires.  We should be at the hotel Thursday morning if you want to test fit. Look for the fat guy with goofy glasses standing near the orange Q45.

Even though we couldn't use the 13" wheels due to clearance issues, I want to say thanks again for the thought, kindness, and effort involved in bringing them to the Challenge.

I can arrange that. I have several Challenge legal vehicles although some would have to be a true parking lot build.

Thanks again for offering the 18s! I couldn't accept since my haggard box flares were slicing up my 17s, but it was very generous of you. Also thanks for the Jeep wheel ideas...I am very excited for 2019

now, *there* is an interesting concept. Could one competitor / team loan the entire car to another team, such that both teams could track it?

In reply to Greg Smith :

I'm sure it could happen. In fact it'd be interesting because in theory Concours would be the main difference. Make sure one team was judged early without the other team watching. Turn over the car then the other team gets to get judged late.  Need magnetic panels to switch numbers for the runs. If I can help this let me know.

Unless the teams also went 'head to head' for driving (no pro drivers) or even supplied different wheels/tires.

And as you saw with #16, you can really change the look of a car with magnets. Could probably do stripes, etc. too, though that might be impractical for the driving events.

Wheels are turning. Christopher will be back next year, and i would have much more fun competing as a driver (I think)... and my current plot will probably not be ready until 2020.

Because i don't have a lot of true extras this year I'm going to start this early. I'm putting up my 96 Miata for the Stampie Rule this year. Honestly I don't have any receipts so it'd have to go up for FMV consideration from our peers. It is Gastropod legal.  Here's how my memory of budget goes for FMV consideration.

1996 Miata totalled by insurance and bought back for ~$360. I think there's an old thread where we decided $150 fee to account for owner buy back of totalled cars so make it $510.

Harddog roll bar. I bought a $500 Miata from a GRMer took the bar out and zeroed out the Miata. Free?

Hardtop I brought from a GRMer for $700

Wheels and tires I bought from a GRMer for $450

So as it sits $1660?

If you really wanted to have fun, I have a spec Miata Bilstein setup I bought for $180 and higher rate springs I bought for $100. Needs one NB tophat that I bought for $50.  These are not on the car but we could do it in the parking lot of the hotel. That'd bring it to $1990. Damn that's close. You could always run without the hardtop to leave plenty of room.

Would have to be picked up in Jacksonville and returned to the same.

I couldn't take good pictures last night but here she is.

And the dent that totaled her.

I forgot that I put on a spec Miata exhaust but I didn't exempt the tires last night so still good budget wise.

What kind of title does it have now? What size wheels are those? Can I actually buy it? Or just a rental?
