I've got a friend in the slammer. He's only there another year, but this year has been especially hard on him with Covid. He's basically in lockdown, can't go outside. Only allowed to leave his cell once a day and shower, make a quick phone call and then back to the cell. He is going insane. His psyche is diminishing. He's an automotive nut like us. Help us help him. I want to send him in depth, detailed automotive history books that are thrilling to read and have to be available on Amazon. Amazon is one of the only ways to send stuff to an inmate.
Okay, here's three I could absolutely recommend:
1) The Lost Generation by David Tremayne
2) City Of Speed by Joe Scalzo
3) The Unfair Advantage by Mark Donohue
It's not cheap, so see if he can get it through the library, but Smokey Yunick's Best Damn Garage in Town is a fantastic read.

I have a couple books I would donate if there's a way to get them to your buddy. Just tell me where to send...
Unfair Advantage by Mark Donohue is good
I read one of Steve Matchitt's books and got a couple of his others
I have Jackie Stewart's book but not read yet. It is thick so it should take a while to get through.
Mickey Thompson Challenger
hard to find but the man was a machine

Yeah I have plenty too, but the state pen says must be a brand new book and sent only through authorized channels. Thanks though!
All Corvettes Are Red & Car are interesting books about the development of the C5 Corvette and jelly bean Taurus.

It wasn't meant to be a history book but it is now and it's *fantastic*, Denis Jenkinson's The Racing Driver. Man, things have changed since he wrote that book.
