now it seems her brand-consciousness is flaring up, and she wants to preserve the big "LeMond" on the down tube, so maybe it's just getting local sanding and primer before masking and shooting with rattle-can purple metalflake. build threads will be posted for both bikes. Mirella is now stripped to bottom bracket as well.
Yeah, preserving the "Lemond" on the frame isn't a bad idea. One other thing I was going to mention is that, if possible, try not to remove or paint over the little sticker on the downtube that says what type of tubing the frame is made out of. I've seen enough old frames with that stuff missing, and it is hard to tell if you are looking at low-end junk or a top of the line frame without it.

Um, where were the build threads?!
I manage a decent-sized shop (70 employees, over $10m/yr) and will tell that you can buy Shimano gruppos online from overseas for about the same price (or maybe slightly better) than I can get them wholesale for the store! We don't lack for buying power on a regional scale, but we are small potatoes on an international scale...that's just the reality of a modern global economy with different rules in different areas. I could bore you all with a long story on the details, but the truth is that for deals on parts the question you should be asking these days is "does anybody work in a Taiwanese bicycle factory with an OE Shimano account and a really drafty backdoor that tends to stay open?"
We make our money on folks needing a hand installing those parts, or wanting to ditch a project and buy something new. We honestly can't compete on Shimano pricing for a DIY type (GRM type) customer. I would love to help, but my best advice is to shop around online.

ran out of $$$. we rode our MtBikes again this year. Sarah was a stud, 34 miles on Saturday and 50 miles on Sunday! Turns out last minute donations to others pushed her down to 12th place for 2014, but she pulled about $1k more this year so another small number will be hers for next year.
we're budgeting $40 per month to the bike resto fund, and next year we will be roadies!
