Two hundred for a set would be cheap. Two hundred each is a pretty good price from Trucklite.

Just try sourcing a 5-3/4" one. HD is the only game in town, and they are five bills there.

I don't own a car with stock lighting. The Trucklite/GE lights are worth the money, in my opinion. Whether you want to spend that money is up to you.

Superbrightleds looks like some interesting items. I commute in dear country so always looking for brighter better lights.

Have any pictures of the 7"ers on a Miata? Trying to picture it, but being blinded by it :D

I was actually going to do a review of these when I got a chance. No good beam pattern shots yet, though.

One of the entertaining things about these is the response speed. They go from dark to full light output instantly - you don't realize how long a filament takes. I want to put these on the Targa Miata with a strobe controller so I have flash to pass like a Le Mans Audi. In the past two Targas, I've had to pass someone who didn't realize I was there. I figure these things strobing away should get someone's attention.

Here's what I have.

It should be worth noting that the exposure for the low beam shot is twice as long as the high beam shot. There's twice as much light.

Keith, care to do a writeup? Id be very interested in a retrofit project for my own DD (non Miata), and some previous experience could make that a little easier to accomplish.

Installation is as easy as installing a replacement sealed beam.

1) Remove the old headlight
2) Install the LED ones

Seriously, I'd have a hard time making it sound more complicated. They're fully self-contained stock replacements. There's a lead on the back of the LED lights with a standard headlight connector on it. The hardest part is dealing with the fact that your wiring harness just got about 4" longer.

I put a cheap set of LED lights in my Escort. They were quite a bit brighter for a low price. You would have to kill the hyper-blink because the flasher won't see a blinker there unless your brake lights are independent from your blinkers.

I suggest using red LEDs weather they are in a red or clear housing because the red will shine brighter.

Are those from Trucklite, Keith?

As posted earlier, they're GE Nighthawks. People on Amazon claim they're the same as the Trucklites, and they sure look similar.

They look like the Trucklite I put on my bike, also 7". That thing is bright. I had a discount code for Trucklite. 10 or 15 points. All in, I got the 7" headlight and 2 spots for less than the price of the headlight alone from HD.

Hooniverse had an article from a guy who worked at Peterson and was using his NA to demo their LED lights. At the time, I couldn't find a source to figure out how much the Peterson 7" costs though. Seems like a slow rollout.

The reason I ended up with a set was because I was contacted by a GE employee who wanted an impartial review, and he was an ex-NA owner. As with Peterson, the market is big trucks.

The Petersons are definitely a different unit, the dark space between the high and low beam isn't there on the GE/Trucklites. Looks like the price is in the same ballpark. Based on the stated draw I was able to find, they're either not as bright or more efficient LEDs.

In reply to Keith Tanner:

It seems a few companies are getting into that game. I was looking at Trucklites for my Wrangler and the best price I could find was $385 for the pair (includes the H4 to H13 pigtail).

I have found a 4.5" headlight as well.

KC Hilites also have their new LED headlight design which looks very similar to the Petersons and Trucklite:

Edit: I don't want to step on any toes here so please PM me and I will gladly tell you guys where I got the lowest price from

Damn! I want a set of those! And I just bought two sets of those H4 lights from busdepot.com... Doh!

Gulp! Currently listed at $282 each from Amazon.

The KCs look similar, but they're not the same light. The seam between the top and bottom of the GE/Trucklite is handled differently and the reflectors are different. Just FYI, it would be interesting to see a comparison between the two in output.

Interestingly, it looks as if the Trucklite has evolved, there are several distinct versions out there.

Yes, the LED lights are more than halogen H4s. But they're not far off a set of high-quality auxiliary lights. I guess it just depends what you're comparing them to.

Oh they definitely seem to be worth it. Especially for a LBC with marginal wiring since you should be able to get a lot more light without adding additional load.

It's still a lot of money... hopefully the prices will continue to drop.
