I smoke him. It isn't even a contest. Granted I also know how to shift so...
In general, I'd recommend the Honda CRF250F for anyone looking for a mild mannered dirt bike. The Honda will keep its value much better than any of the Chinese bikes. Another broad general statement...after about 10 years, hidden things start to wear out and go wrong with motorcycles if they are not maintained properly so I can't recommend anything older than 10 years old unless you know the background on the bike and how it has been ridden and taken care of for its entire life.
The GPX FSE250E with Bosch EFI (started in 2024 I believe) is one of the better Chinese bikes and they have good support from the importer in Utah. Price wise, they are about half way between the cheap Chinese bikes and the Japanese brands for an equivalent bike.
