It runs!!! The right carb is running way rich so I have to fix that (fouled my new plug). The left plug came out perfect. Compression was about 145 psi in both. I ran some Sea Foam through and it is now 160 in the right and 155 in the left. I am hoping that if I run it a bit more things will free up.
Rats, now you've got me looking at 450s.
Having trouble with the G*d Damn Keihins! I am trying to adjust the floats. I cannot seem to get them right. Either the flood or they are starved of fuel. I am frustrated.
Ordered the Mikuni VM32 setup from Dime City.
Anyone have experience installing a universal cable to a VM 32?
The Dime City cable snapped while adjusting. Right carb choke plunger hits the petcock.

Yep, the big case has to come off now. Do yourself a favor and get one of those hammer driven impact drivers before you go any further (I'm assuming you don't have one now).
Those 1970's Honda screws are made of something very similar to cheddar cheese and will round out if you look at them crosseyed. That's why I say if I meet that guy Phillips he will die a horrible lingering painful death, I don't care if they were designed as a torque limiting device.
Clutch after case removal:
Not a 450, but the design is similar.
Those impact drivers are the old motorcycle owners best friend.
The screws aren't Phillips heads, they are a JAP #3 IIRC.

I bought one just like the one in the picture and it is as useful as tits on a bull.

I have a old Craftsman impact driver, must be 25-30 yrs old, saved my butt countless times and will always be in the 'ol tool box

That's what I have. IDK what the new ones are built like.
Moparman, maybe you need a bigger hammer.
I went through two of the harbor freight $5 ones taking my 1975 Honda apart. I then invested in the sears one, but it doesn't look much better. I hope to never need it again.
I think my impact is built by S-K. I bought it 10 years ago, and it works great.
I would LOVE to find one of those to do a cafe/small bore street tracker/bratstyle bike... definitely living vicariously through you on this one!

Mikunis are on and it idles real well. No smoke, good comrpression, etc. The new Motion Pro cable which is specially made for Mikinis on a CB should arrive any day. New shocks, seat cover (for now), turn signals and tailight are on the way. I have new tires and tubes ready to go on. Next Thursday it goes into the shop for carb tuning, timing, valve adjusting, etc.
