Decided Big Red (aka the Sledgehammer) needed a companion in the stable (aka the Scalpel)

It’s an 09 1198 with 3k miles on it and a termi exhaust/ecu, carbon front fender, rear hugger, pillion cover, under seat area, key surround front air ducts, a woodcraft open clutch cover and anodized basket, quickshifter, and rollaclick levers. It feels monumentally fast and handles and stops like no bike I’ve experienced. We’ll see about reliable.....
My wife has a 2007 1098 and it has only had 2 problems in the almost 27k miles she has on it. Both times were the same issue, after getting a service, they didn't get the in tank fuel pump line on correctly and it came off, stranding her. Both time, i was able to fix it after getting it home.
Great bike. I cant imagine the thought process of someone riding the 1098 and then thinking, almost perfect. Just needs another 100cc....

Funny, I was thinking todaywhile riding it, “if only it was a 1398” ;)
Just picked up a 1996 KDX 200. It's a one owner, came with a truck full of extras including sprockets, turn signals, oil, multiple exhausts, riding gear, etc. Has all kinds of guards for everything, Baja designs street legal kit, fmf pipe and silencer, Reed valve, flywheel weight, and pretty much everything that was available for the bike. It was sitting for about 5 years so the owner put in fresh gas and it started on the third kick.
Edit: Took most of the stickers off and ordered new side covers as well as a new battery for it. Also swapped out all the fluids in it. This thing is a blast

Santa Cruz Mountains. Not that far lol.
It’s got no key and no title but it’s been in my garage for 10 years and someone else’s back yard for god knows how long before that, so I’m sure it’s out of DMV’s system - shouldn’t have any back fees.( Shouldnt!)
Engine turns by hand, Er, foot. I really haven’t done anything with it beyond looking inside the rusty tank and moving it out of my way.
I’ll take $1000 for it, you come get it, bill of sale only.

That almost splits the difference. I’m in Los Angeles.
My dad lived up there for a while, it’s a fun city.

I’m viewing this on my phone, but if I’m not mistaken, that looks to be a Scalpel with a 1x drivetrain, Fox 34mm fork, and some Shimano Icetech rotors, and possibly updated calipers. Nice! How’s it ride?

Already lost the stock muffler. Nice. The rustic riding experience without the dripping fluids and snapping cables of my earlier iron barrel.
2017 duke 690 and 2013 duke 390. the 390 is the wifes and the 690 is mine. both stock at the moment with plans to do a few things. been to the tail with them once and had a blast. impressive little single cylinders.

It’s the Scalpel SE- the trailified version of the Scalpel, so 120mm travel from the Fox 34, 115 in the rear (Fox Evol), 12 speed XTR on an XX1 10-50 block, XTR calipers and Icetech rotors. I love it, great for the flatter areas of the UK.
Just finished up my favorite bike. Had a set of carbs and Suzuki paddock stands long before I got this thing. Some bodywork brackets, minor paint,38 mm Mikunis and a chain and she’s done.
This can’t be more early 90s if it tried.
