Yesterday, this came to my house:
Yeah, the engine is neon green (not my choice...fortunately it doesn't look like it's going to stick very well).
I got it in trade for a '50 GMC truck I had. I don't think I'll end up keeping it...I'll probably trade it. But who knows.
It has a PO-diagnosed bad head gasket. That'll be first to fix. Then we'll see where it goes from there...

Needs new bars. Those bars look like barf.
luv the retro drilled brake discs.
I'd love to see what somebody could do with one of those using a 1st Gen V-Max for inspiration.

I think I have a new name for it...
DarkWing seat, <$100.

Poke around here, good information. Check the big belt up front also.

Those head gaskets are super easy. Looks like fun!

Not exactly...
'cause the pad is extra ($85) and I don't think I could replicate it (the seat pad...made at home) and be happy. Not saying it's a bad deal, but it's more like $200 than <$100 (in my way of thinking).
Still...if I keep it, it needs a seat for two and NOT a silly-ass king-queen seat...so it will be hard to beat that kind of price.

That's a ruckus swap, right?

I never realized the drive shaft on those things was on the right side...
What the hell is that spherical tank just above and behind the right cylinder block?

Auxiliary fuel tank I think.
That bike looks odd, and ugly. Definitely ugly. But the more I look at it the more I like it.

I definitely like the one 914 posted better.
Not much you can do with a 'Wing. I think if I were doing it I'd try to make it look like one of those ultraminimalist BMW Boxer racing bikes that's just two wheels, a frame, tank, seat and one big motherberkleying engine tying the whole thing together...
You won't find anything Teutonic as cheap as these.
$1000 invested, added lightness and roller paint job; solf for $1800.

Don't tempt me. I have a Ruckus and an early Gold Wing.

I don't know what that black abomination is, but I like it.
Well...I'd have probably had the headgasket fixed by now except they have an (apparently) 12mm spark plug and the compression tester I borrowed (and the "rental" at the auto parts store) doesn't have an adapter that small. Guess it's time to step up and buy a compression tester. (to clarify, I want to test compression to identify which headgasket is likely shot.)
This bike is obnoxious with those pipes on it. I rode it across town (it didn't overheat in the 5-10 minutes I rode) and I wanted to beat ME for riding a bike that was so loud. Not to mention the engine LOOKS loud with the green paint...lol.

turns out this thing is apparently an "LTD" and all the goldwingers are screaming "save it! restore it!"
Pffft...whatever!

Sell/Trade it to said screaming Goldwingers for something you want?
In reply to imirk:
agreed, those goldwing guys can deal with it. If they want it soo much they can buy/trade for it. Get rid of this thing so you can go get that Fairmont.

WTF is a "LTD" Goldwing?
not to jack the thread, but when is somebody around here going to buy one of these:

and do it right?
As I understand it, LTDs are first generation specials, very early ones had three gages on top of the tank.
Don't let the purists get under your skin, that ship sailed when the green paint went on.

LTD's are the ones with the woodgrain contact paper covering the sides of the car.
Or maybe I'm thinking 70's Fords.
