How do stupid people end up with this kind of money?
I'd do some very questionable things for that car, but I can only ever dream about driving one, nevermind owning one.
On a completely different note, what is with people using that synthesized voice for voiceovers in videos? That makes both my brain and my ears hurt.
I'm assuming that if you can afford the three-quarter-mil to buy the car, you can probably cover the repair bill. I'm glad that he didn't injure anyone or do any signficiant property damage because recovering those damages could have been a long process. It burns me that he was just "given a warning" for driving without insurance. When I'm (somewhat) Benevolant Dictator of The World, getting caught operating a vehicle without insurance will be a minimum of 45 days in jail for the first offense and up from there.

The other part of the frustration- given the nature of the accident- it would take a tiny bit of crash reconstruction to know without a doubt he was driving way beyond the speed limit at that location. Which is a massive fine for normal people- not a warning. Many times, a normal person in the same accident would probably have a suspended license, too. Let alone a massive increase of insurance costs for an extended amount of time on the rest of your vehicles.

Very true! I don't know how Florida is, though, but I'm pretty sure that in some states - mine, included - if the police officer doesn't witness you committing a traffic infraction you can't be cited for it. It can go into the consideration for who has to pay damages, but if you blow a stop sign and t-bone someone without a cop sitting there seeing it live, you won't see a ticket.

Meh. I have seen worse at LeMans. Put a new nose on the thing and let it back out on the track.

While that would factor into not given them a ticket for speeding, a crash is clearly dangerous driving, And the driver admitted that his driving was at fault. At least one should get reckless driving for a single car crash.
It would be interesting to see if every single car accident goes without penalty in those states. Seems rather dubious to me.

In Florida, driving with a suspended or revoked license can get you jail time. But, it's at the discretion of the arresting officer. So, often the penalty is go pay your ticket(s) and get your license reinstated, and call somebody to come drive you (and your car) home. Guy possibly wrote off a million dollar car (no insurance), and limited property damage (trees are pretty resilient) so cop cut him some slack.. YMMV.

Given the driver's skill that was shown, did that really help the Florida dirving public, though? Had that been a poor person doing the same relative damage to their bank account without insurance, would the cop been so accepting? I doubt that. Especially since driving w/o insurance is generally against the law.

Yeah, the offenses do stack up. And if that had been a less fortunate person the penalty would have been much different. Generally the level of stupidity allowed is proportional to one's net worth, hence YMMV... There are exceptions, as the guy who killed his passenger while screwing around drunk in his Lamborghini found out Speeding Lamborghini

I'm not convinced anyone in Florida has a driver's license. I mean, I have one, but I got it from MN. And they just gave me a new Florida man card with my handgun and Disney passes when I moved here.
I'm sure the guy can afford to hire enough good lawyers to get him out of this.

I agree! I can't bring myself to watch more than a second or two of a video with a synthesized voice.
"Punishable by fine" just means its legal for rich people.
No matter the jurisdiction if there are no personal injuries the police won’t put the investigative resources into the incident. The belief is the cost benefit ratio of a prosecution is not favourable.
