ok guys dont be shiny happy people im a newbie to miatas i love mine to death ive already revived her once and shes starting to die again and all i want to know is what all i will need for a 1.8 swap im pretty sure it will be cheaper for me to swap it instead of fix the current issues thanks if you help me out
The conversion kit from FM is a great bargain, and will take care of all the headaches. That's what I used.

Since he's a newby, he might not know that FM is really Flying Miata in Colorado.
Why swap in a 1.8? Everyone know the 1.6 is the better engine
The odds are very good that somebody, very soon, is going to suggest an LSx swap.
Other than that, it is unlikely that you're going to run into any shiny-happys around here.
Good luck with the swap.

If you have spent 2k bucks on a Miata engine, you should have 4 extra engines...

woah dude...punctuation.
...srsly
Have you looked at the Flyin Miata website yet? Ive never heard a single negative thing about them, or their wares. And Keith is a cool guy. I dont own a Miata, but if I did, Id probably have them on speed dial.

Yeah. Around here we're not shiny happy people about someone lacking knowledge, but most of us like a solid attempt at proper punctuation and capitalization so that it isn't a chore to read.
On topic:
meh. Nevermind.

So... you're going to come here, ask for our assistance, and then tell us you plan to not be considerate.
Have fun with that.

No you don't. You are writing these posts, but these posts don't have punctuation. Make it easy on the readers, it isn't any harder on you.

Well, how about we refuse to read your messages when you don't use punctuation?
Back to you.
Not sure what's going on in this thread, because i can't understand what OP is trying to say.
Miatas are happiest with proper punctuation. That's probably the problem with the motor you have now.
if you want to sit and bitch about punctuation then why bother reading it? i mean im not trying to be a dick about it but damn i write at least 10 pages almost everyday i deserve a break from it so if you keep commenting on my punctuation i will not even bother wasting my time to respond its not hard to read without punctuation but however i still thank all of you that did help me out with the FM site i didnt even know it existed
Actually.. it is very hard to read without punctuation. I actually stopped reading your post about not using it because It was hard on my (older) brain.
As for your problem with all that money into a Miata engine that still runs like a dog, what kind of stuff keeps breaking? 2k into a Miata 1.6 should net you almost new everything.
and just go with the flow, the bad word filter on this site is designed to make you smile. We all know what E36 M3 means
Why capitalization is important:
- We helped our Uncle Jack off the horse.
- we helped our uncle jack off the horse.

Wait, you write 10 pages a day? Wow, so much.....
So much that when you type, it's just so terrible to use two keys that are at the bottom of the keyboard? At a bare minimum, a period and a comma is easy. Add in the question mark, quotes, and the colon/semi- yea, i can imagine that using all of the keys on the keyboard is exhausting.
You find it so exhausting to use all of the keys, but plan on doing a 1.8 swap. ok.
Oh, and you ARE being a dick about it. Especially since it IS hard to read without punctuation, moreso when you don't even use caps to distinguish a new sentance. Just a long run on that's hard to figure out.
And to round out being a dick back, you didn't know about the FM site- ever heard of google? I understand it's a good resource, too.
Yes, we do tend to be a grammatical bunch.
When you're posting on a forum, you're communicating with written language. And in the absence of anything else, people will judge you on the quality of that written language. If you know how to use punctuation, use it. That way, the people you are asking for help will have an easier time helping you. I'd hate to think of how many "pages" a day I write, and they're all punctuated, Capitalized and spelled as well as I can.
Anyhow, back to the question at hand.
weve got a book at flyin miata that discusses the 18 swap as well as a quick version on the website its a pretty well documented swap make sure your current 16 engine problems arent related to something else in the car if you have a fuel or wiring problem the swap may not solve things for you give us a call at fm and we can help get you going on the right path
