I have a 1988 lincoln towncar that has a 25k v-8 302 engine. Unfortunately a tree fell on it and totalled the car. I have been getting mixed message about the vehicles this is compatible with. I'd like to put it in a mustang or a ranger. Does anyone know what years the engine will fit into??

should be the same engine as the "5.0" in the mustang

What are the power ratings? I think it's identical to the Mustang engine though.

You can always put it into a Miata!

Not the same as a Mustang. It's a 5.0 SEFI "SO" motor. It has lower-flowing heads, a smaller upper intake, iron exhaust manifolds, smaller cam, different firing order, etc, etc. It's a 170HP lump instead of a 225HP lump. You can update it to almost a 5.0 HO but the pistons are low-compression cast instead of forged. Real HO's are cheap enough that it's basically not worth doing. Find a cherry Town Car body with a bad motor and stick this one in it for silky daily-driverness.
