I did not buy the blue one, and I really really wanted it. It checked a lot of my boxes, but this example has been ridden hard and put up wet. Lack of maintenance and care were fairly obvious, and to top it off the metal around the driver's door hinge was failing, ripped like someone had snatched that door open in anger. It was damn hard to walk away beacuse the car is beautiful. I am going to look at the silver one this evening.

Be patient. It's a good thing to have the cash and be looking for the right car. Once you've bought one, you're out the cash and on the hook!

Did you see this one:

https://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/5193790005.html

I am almost positive this car was sitting in the Stromboli's parking lot with a flat tire for two weeks, and I left a note on it but never heard back. I was going to offer them $500 to tow it away.

It looks a bit ratty, and with the high miles I am betting you can get it for a lot less than they are asking.

Thanks Brett. That one may be a little too ratty. I don't mind spending the five large to get a clean daily.

I kinda wish I had never seen the ad for the blue 330ci, I have looked on AutoTrader and they don't have anything within 250 miles of me

Decent-looking one in the DC area for just 2500! Oh, but it doesn't start!

Does it have to be a manual?

Yes. Unless you find a late'80s Voyager Turbo that is.

Have you tried CarGurus?

That's how I found my E92. A lot more user friendly and they have a 'market value' comparison to other vehicles in your area. Dunno how they do that exactly.

Talk about a unicorn. They are out there if you do a nationwide search of Craigslist, though. http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/5210510536.html

The Starion I put in the 2015 Classifieds is another option (I really want somebody to buy that thing, LOL).

So update time!!! After a test drive and a scan of the maintenance records I was set to buy the 540i sedan, when the sunroof suddenly stopped working while playing around with it. The seller said he would take it in to get that fixed before selling, and that gave me about a week to look at other cars. That night another topaz blue 3-series coupe popped up on Craigslist, this one a 2002 325ci with 154,000 miles on it and maintenance records going back to when it was brand new on the dealer lot. I reached out to see if I could arrange a test drive. Looked at it the next day and it was marvelous, so I brought it home. HELLO SEXY!

I will post more pics after I detail the interior. Don't love the wheels, but there is a set of nice M wheels on Craigslist right now, so I might pick those up for future installation.

Looks great!

Check and make sure the M wheels fit. They had bigger fender flares on the e46s.

Yep, and read up on Offset as well. I have heard of issues with the M rears not playing nicely on non-m cars. (and its not a problem a spacer can solve, its a problem the other way).

I have been thinking about the wheels for a bit now

See if you can find a set of e46 ZHP wheels, those would look great on that car.

Ohh, those ZHP wheels are nice. I will keep a lookout for some of those.

I believe the wheels I have were OEM on a 330, but the previous owner was not sure. While they are useable, they are definitely not my preference. Here are some of the ones that I have been looking at, but I am not sure if any of these will fit. I will probably not change the wheels until the current tires need replacing. Current wheels are 18s, front tires are 225/40R18, rears are 255/35R18.

Enkei Perfomance Rims, - $649

Craigslist as says: EKM3 18" Gun Metal Rims for sale. Brand new, tiny scratch on one rim, barely see it. $649.00 Was on a 2008 BMW for about 4 months. Excellent Rims, I had a lot of compliments on them.

Here are the M style ones that I mentioned earlier, which sound like they won't work:

BMW M3 Style Rims - $700

I have a set of 18" E46 M3 style rims off my 323CI. These are staggered 8" font and 8.5" rear. Minimal road rash and the rims are in overall good condition. I will not sell individually.

And, since I'm not opposed to more sidewall, and the stock wheels were 16s, I am also digging these:

SET OF 4 16" BMW 318i 323i 325i 328i 330i Z3 OEM WHEELS RIMS 59270 - $400

I'm selling a set of used BMW factory z3 wheels

Fits BMW 318i 323i 325i 328i 330i Z3 OEM Model number 59270 5x120 lug pattern

3 tires are good, one is bad Minor wear Great shape not bent or damaged at all
