Serious question I dont' know the answer too. What's the highest performance car that still comes with a regular three pedal box? R8? Aston Vantage? base 911? Porsche Turbo's and GT3's are now flappy paddle. So is anything else with real performance credentials.
Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, Vantage GT, Caterham 7 620R, Ariel Atom 3S, Noble M600, Dodge Viper. There are still performance cars out there with a proper gearbox.
I wasn't denying the exist, it was a question I didn't know the answer too. On that list only the Gallardo is in the same class of vehicle as the GT, the Aston could be argued as a distant second. No of the others are even close to really comparable, not that they are bad vehicles, I'd love to have the Aston, the Nobel or the Caterham, but they are not the same, even through I grant you they are very high performance cars.

Of this list, the Lambo and the Viper are the only truly production super cars. The Vantage is awesome but outclassed and the others are built in a shed. The Viper is actually outclassed too but it is built with brute force and not much else. The noble isn't included because it isn't a real, production car. Not anymore than a Superformance GT40 replica. I can't go to a Noble dealer, I can't take it to a noble mechanic, it doesn't meet crash testing, etc...
Adrian - This car has too much awesome to get it all out in the first 1:30 that it is in the open. I love the over the body air flow.

So, Adrian, do those air tunnels actually provide downforce? That might upset the standing mile guys(probably the very few who actually use their ford gt's)
I can't talk about anything that isn't in the public domain. I want to be at my desk tomorrow.

Sounds like you'd better get a down-payment ready to put your name one one!

Why isn't the Noble in the same class? Mid-engine, high power supercar. To be honest, out of all those if I was very wealthy the Caterham 7 620R would be the car I'd own.
The Nobel is awesome, but people who go shopping Nobels aren't normally in the same market as those shopping hyper exotics. They may cross shop 10 year old Ferrari's, Lambo's etc, but not new ones. The same as people don't tend to cross shop base Mustangs with new ZR1 Corvettes. Maybe used Corvettes, but not new ones. Magnitudes different price points. That isn't to say the Nobel isn't an awesome car, it's just not in the same price, performance or I hate to say it style and image catagory for those with the coin to buy either. That's born out by the size of the Noble market, which probably includes buyers of things like the Ultima (also originally Lee Nobel), Superformance GT40's and other high end 'kit car's' as opposed to those who go cross shopping McLArens, Ferrari's, Lambo's etc.
NOTE. This does not in anyway indicate a price point, I have absolutely no idea of what that may be.

IMHO, EcoBoost has been a Marketing buzzword that has not actually resulted in better MPG. OK, the F-150 has a turbo V6, but when used to tow/haul, it returns V8 mpg. The SHO has a turbo V6, but it sucks gas like a pig. I doubt that the GT will be any different. I mean, the Corvette can do close to 30mpg under the right conditions, so there is no need to downsize the motor really. Not that I care of course, it's still 600hp and awesome and if I had the cash I wouldn't care if it was a V4 quad turbo.
Fair assement, but remember the SHO is pretty close to the base v6 in fuel economy, and is supposed to be relative to a v8 that is now in a volvo.
And the F150 is better when not towing- which is many drivers on a daily basis.
Others, I agree, have some work to be better...

I like it. There's enough in the styling to hint it's a GT, but brought into the modern era. While I liked the last GT, it really did a bit too much like a carbon-copy of the original, only bigger. Sort of like the current Challenger (which I also like) vs. the original.

Already made the call, actually a few people I know who own GT's locally did the same thing. We all kind have been txting each other.
Doubt I will be able to get one, I was unable to get a GT in the spec I wanted during the last batch and it kind of put me off a bit. Dealers around here will mark them up and not use them for repeat customers.

Contact dealers from all over, the local dealer that closed in '08 got 2 Ford GT's in, sold both for zero markup. One was black/white and the other Gulf colors.
One guy came all the way from Washington to get the Gulf car.

Round tail lights are nothing new.
It's beautiful. Thanks for resisting the urge to paint the in the over done Gulf scheme right away.
I love it, taillights and all.

The amusing thing is, the Ford GT is making the GT-350R and 2nd gen Raptor announcements nearly nonexistent.....

call them butter, cuz Ford is on a roll

The one in town (Joe Machens Ford, Columbia, MO) had 3 GTs last time. Hitting the smaller dealers in towns with less cash could work in your favor.

Its a ton easier now with the internet being more developed so if I can swing one and my wife will not kill me we will see. I am super tapped out over buying a investment property right now so I need to start putting the cash away.

I like the new design. Simple cues to the original but not a retro design. Not sure how I feel about the v6.
Lotsa tail light comments above--who copied whom...

Looks good, but I think they should've done something different with the taillights.
They were trying to make them look like the Ford GT40 taillights by using just two round lights, but accidentally made the car look like a modern Ferrari from the rear - with two ringed lights that project out from the rear of the car. Even a different arrangement of lights within that housing could help.
If the "original" GT-40 had the 2-round-taillights before Ferrari (on a mid-engined car), doesn't that make Ferrari the copier? I simply see Ford being true to it's heritage.

It's capable enough....and should help it weigh less than the last GT.
The only thing I'm not 100% on is the interior. I really liked the simple, industrial interior of the last one. But, since I'll never actually have to worry about being on the inside of one of these, bravo Ford!
