2023 NFL Trash Talk thread...?

I can't believe in this day and age that anyone can still support a "non profit" like the NFL.   wink

Oh, wait.  Not that kind of trash talk.

um, go Steelers.

I was also thinking of my buddy who had Rodgers as his fantasy QB along with Kelce. Ouch...Rough week one for him.

Go Browns. Solid performance to start the year. I am still not on the DW bandwagon but maybe the defense will stay healthy and get to the playoffs.

My Browns won, weather helped them, but I think DW is not a top 5 QB probably among the top ten around Dak.

As a Bengals fan, I can personally apologize to the rest of Cincinnati for forgetting to send the email reminding the team that this was, in fact, NOT week 5 of the preseason.

But, in fairness, every time the Bengals have won the AFC, they lost on the road to the Brownies. This week was just keeping up the tradition.cheeky

As a Browns fan Joe B. is a top 3 QB, and even Patrick who I consider #1 has bad days. Bengals will pick up the pace, however for the Browns, the Steelers and Ravens in the next couple games are must win games for them to sniff the playoffs. DW is not reliable or clutch like Joe B. so I imagine that the defense will have to carry the Browns to the playoffs and what happens in the playoff will see if the Browns got their time, money, and bad PR for taking on DW.

Yeah, I think Burrow is fine. Really, of the "elite" quarterbacks, Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, and Allen all lost this week. But somehow I think those teams will be fine. At least none of their Achilles tendons exploded.

As for Watson I honestly don't care how he plays. He's a POS and I won't be rooting for the Browns as long as he's on the team.

The Eagles tried to grab defeat from the jaws of victory, but the Pats wanted it more...

Josh Allen REALLY wanted the Jets to win... but he still had to give them the ball three freakin' times to make it happen...  At least he was on the same page with someone... too bad he plays for the wrong team.

Allen completed more passes to the Jets than Rodgers did! laugh

Seriously, the guy has all the talent in the world. Size, arm strength, mobility. He just needs to settle down mentally, stop trying to force it, rely on his teammates more. I wonder if he couldn't benefit from one of the "QB whisperer" coaches like Doug Petersen or Mike Shanahan. Not that either of those dudes is available at the moment.

The 49ers are a pretty damn watchable team. Going to be in the hunt for sure, and what's not to like about the best Cinderella story at QB since Kurt Warner?

I used to be a huge Rodgers fan, but he hasn't done a lot more than bellyache in recent years. Hopefully this will be the end of him.

Watching the Giants play the cowboys, I thought it was great news for Josh Allen, because Doball looks terrible and Giants are not afraid to move on from coaches. Bills should offer Head Coach money for him to be a assistant. Doball seemed to do well taming Allen's rawness. Honestly Josh looked like Carson Wentz (bad version) on MNF.

Didn't watch the game, but were the officials spraying Armor All on the ball last night?

Maybe when the Vikings had it...  Four fumbles...  Definitely an odd game.  Vikings secondary shut down the passing game, but couldn't stop the Eagles from running.   But at the end of the game, a win is a win.

Gotta feel for Nick Chubb with season ending injury on MNF. Hope for a full recovery.

One of the nastiest sports injuries I've seen. Hopefully it doesn't end his career, he's a fun player to watch.

As for my Lions, while we didn't have anything that catastrophic, the injury bug bit us pretty hard against Seattle. We already went in without Decker, then during the game we lost James Houston (broken ankle, 6-8 weeks), CJ Gardner-Johnson (torn pec, probably gone for the year), David Montgomery (thigh bruise, out multiple weeks) and Vatai and St. Brown for large portions of the game. It was like a damn MASH unit out there, and suddenly the optimism of beating KC has given way to a lot of concern.

As much as any fan base complains, at least 31 of us can say "we're not the Bears". cheeky

Okay, a "serious" question--if you're Eberflus, what the hell do you do...?

Let Justin Fields do his own thing, stop trying to coach him to be something different than he is.  Go find a DC somewhere, pray that you can find 3 wins to save yourself some embarrassment.

For any Bears fans, you just have to hope that the scouts are able to correctly evaulate the QBs available in the next draft and draft at least 2 of them, pray that the 3 wins Eberflus is hoping for aren't good enough to lose the first draft pick. Then hope that Virginia McCaskey passes peacefully in her sleep, and the kids decide that they're done with it and sell. Because I don't know why any coach would want to come to this dumpster fire, there is nothing encouraging about the team, FO, or ownership.

So, Broncos-Dolphins. I know the Dolphins are really good, fastest team in the NFL, etc. But looking at the highlights, Denver wasn't even attempting to make a tackle on most of those big plays. WTF?

I only watched the highlights video, but apparently the Dolphins had a chance to go for the scoring record (72 points) with a field goal.  I wonder why they didn't.  Crazy game regardless.

Now to see if the Eagles can stop playing so sloppy and secure sole possession of 1st place in the NFC East.
