Edit: Title should be "teach", but I guess tech works too.
Tried to search, didn't come up with much.
Going to look at a 2000 limited 4x4 at lunch. One owner, full service records, looks to be in perfect shape. 112k miles. Pricing seems to be in line with others I've found online.
Problem areas? Anything specific to check out on the test drive aside from the normal used car stuff?
Anyone have one as a daily? Hows the gas mileage? Anything you absolutely hate about it?
I'd like to get rid of my 06 GTI daily for a more kid/dog/work friendly vehicle and get a dedicated cheap and disposable car (miata, 240, maybe that saturn in the classifieds) for track days.

I had one that was my Daily for about 4 years and 70,000 miles.
I usually saw about 20mpg on the road, 17 in town, and 13 towing a car with an open trailer.
I LOVED it. It was solid and quiet, very comfortable, and hugely reliable. I only changed oil, a set of brakes, a set of spark plugs, and a U joint the entire time I had it.
The only reason I sold it is that it was my vehicle during my last 3 years of college, and it needed tires, a timing belt/water pump, and a clutch all at once, all wear items that were my fault for letting stack up (I was a broke college kid, what can I say).
Only reason it went was because I decided I really, really needed an 05 RX8 at the time.
It's one of only 2 cars I wish I never would have sold
Look on the left side of the dash for the locking diff button. You'll want that Also, the x-fer case has four modes: 2wd, 4Hi, 4Lo, and AWD.
It was still there but had already sold. No big loss, it looked to have been attacked by some gravel on the passenger side rear door, which was conveniently not pictured.
Thanks for the info though. The search for a cheaper DD continues... I guess I should start trying to sell my GTI first.
I just found one local to me on CL that I want to go look at as well. It is a 2000 model year, and looks really clean. The price was in the 10K range though which is a bit high in my opinion. I would love one to replace my full size passenger van,but I am partial to 2wd vehicle, and they are tough to find around here. The one on CL is a 4wd one,and I may go look at it anyway.
