My 50 Year High School Reunion is next weekend. I am in charge of the Pandora music playlist and the past reunions photos, yearbook senior class photos, and deceased classmates photos slideshows.

The good news is that I am done except for picking up a large white cloth painter's tarp for a screen, figuring out how to hang it at two venues, and strap a video projector to a board and to a 7' tall ladder.

I have arranged over 600 photos from past reunions, half of which Mrs Heretic and I have taken over the years and also photos of 50 fellow students who have died that we know of. Actually a pretty small ratio for a class of over 700. It was pretty depressing verifying all of the names with photos though.

I had to learn how to use Pandora from scratch of which the first few hours sucked, but I now kind of have the hang of it. I have some 75 songs from the early 70's with a run time of almost 6 hours. I have to admit that the early 70s truely where the golden age of rock advancing from simple folk rock up to progressive rock opera in a mere 5 years.

Now to just relax, get drunk, and enjoy the good times. Don't be afraid to go to yours. smiley

There is an option to download my list and I hope it is now on my laptop so that I can take it to the lake cabin and blast 6 hours of early 70's rock out over my cabin site bay with my Altec Voice of the Theater refrigerator sized speakers. "No Static At All"

Looks like the music is under control!  My 50th is two years away.

My 50th is coming up in August.  My part of the preparation was tracking down everyone - while a lot of people have more or less stayed in touch over the years, there were a number of  classmates no one has seen since graduation.  Amazingly I found them all save for one (granted, there were only about 70 people in our class).  We'll probably have a little over half the class attending, which I think is pretty good after a half century.  I even was able to track down the foreign exchange student from our senior year who lives in Ecuador, we're planning on doing a video chat with her during the reunion.

No one has expressed any interest in having background music, and I'm kind of relieved about that.  It would be a lot of work, many of us don't hear so well anymore so it will be hard enough to converse without yelling "What?" a lot, and frankly there was a lot of crappy music in 1974.  wink  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_1974

lol, the top 40 sure did suck. I'll bet hardly any of my 75 songs where ever top 40 or on the radio. Thank God for albums and 8 tracks.

We are expecting 118 including guests. Many of the still local people won't come.

Funny- I think I got an invite to my 10th back in 1995, but never since.   No idea why.

Have a lot of fun!

I've done several of my class reunions since I moved back to my hometown (40,45, 50, 55) and my 60th is coming soon.....I think that will be my last tho......even tho they've all been good experiences and I've met and made friends with many people I never even knew in school (848 seniors the year I graduated) as the years have gone on it's become more of a survivors get together, and it's starting to make me sad when I learn of even more classmates who have passed on.

I'll just wish the rest of them well, and happy times together.

50th is in August.  I will treat it the same as the other ones.  I won't think about it.  There is no one there that I want to see.

You know you have a great class when you have reunions every 5 years as did we.

I tested Spotify plus and can testify that it does indeed download all of the songs onto your computer's hard drive. I question the sound quality but a lot of the songs have been remastered for modern digital playback. It will sure beat YouTube with their mega commercials and exorbitant cost of commercial free listening. Although I don't know how much commercial free Spotify costs, a couple of months of service would allow an amazing library of music to be acquired and that I would never spend money on to have in my Library.

As I mentioned above, it will be great at the cabin where I just need background music instead of the Fusion I love and normally listen to but nobody else cares for. smiley
