The Apex station on the corner was $3.49 yesterday...$4.24 this morning...Station is owned by Richard Cranium.

Plausible explanation:
The station received gas last night or this morning.
Gas went up from about 3.69 to 3.99 here. For once, I'm glad I don't have a license yet. You people better save some for me! Think of the children!
There is one here that has gone up to $4.49... every other station in town is $3.99 to $4.04... (just east of saint louis, in illinois)... In stl. gas is still at $3.79 (up about $0.30 from a week ago)
I was in Iron Mountain most of the last week with fuel prices at $3.84/gallon, 75* temps with a light rain for part of the day on two days (I peed on Wisconsin for fun because it was RIGHT THERE) and came back to $4.20/gallon prices and 4' of water on my road and no chance of seeing my bed...
What the hell? I was JOKING about having no problem with a hurricane in Michigan!
I drove the M3 from Daytona to Athens this weekend. I filled up in Florida $4.05 (premium) About 3 hours later in Southern GA I paid $4.75! Gas prices were all over the place, from $5.50 to $4.25 on Sunday. Crazy
Most stations here have dropped back to the $3.99 to $4.19 range today. And a LOT of stations are either out of regular or out of gas all together.
Made a big round trip this weekend, filled up Friday in Chuck for $3.49/gal.
About 80 miles out of Macon, Ga $4.49.
About 10 mi other side of Macon filled up again (still had half a tank but didn't want to try to stop for gas on the I, bound to be lines etc) $4.39.
There were gas stations closed in Columbia SC, only place where I knew I could get gas was a Pilot, $4.79/gal. Paid it because I did NOT want to chance being stuck on the I with no place to get gas.
Filled up again in Chuck, $3.79.
Pricey weekend, gas wise.

They all gave me glaring looks, when it took $25 to put the old civc up on Full. Where can I find a, "I'm using less gas than you" bumpersticker?
I get these "slow burn" looks when filling up my motorcycle.

LOL yep even the people working the pumps are stunned at how little my cars need. The AE92 only holds 10 gallons and the Samurai only holds 7, and they both need about 6 gallons a week for DDing. If the Sammy had a 10 gallon tank I could carry around a week's worth of extra fuel between the two of them!
The feeding frenzy is over:

Prices should settle lower than usual now that OPEC is practically dead:

Filled up in north Texas for $3.899. Before you complain too much, most gas stations in the Houston metro area don't have fuel or electricity to pump it.
Prices haven't shot up near as much as I would have suspected. Still sucks.

Gouging smouging. The station owner can charge $100/gallon if he wants to. Doesn't mean anyone will buy the gas. Also, the wholesale price may have gone down since this weekend. Friday was when the huge increase hit (at least here anyway,) So if the station owner paid "X" on Thursday evening, he may have still had "cheap" gas for a little while...till everyone figured out that he was the cheapest guy in town. Anyway, I'm assuming wholesale prices went down yesterday. Just a guess.
