Hmmm...making that cheap Porsche look like a bargain....

If that cheap Porsche breaks down, it could leave you sitting at the side of the road.

A cheap airplane would never do that.

Interesting that they don't even mention what kit it is.  Based on the wing (thick and big) that is a slow plane, and no way those barbells are a safe tie down in any decent wind.

Probably something fun to putt around if you have enough property to land it on.  I would think it would be a bit more entertaining (and probably a bit safer) with an open cockpit though.  I can't imagine that canopy is buying a lot of speed.

I've only been near this sort of thing and not actually spent my own money on pilot's license etc but I think being a member of a flight club makes way more sense than buying a plane at this end of the market.  Or find more money and get something like a manual retracting gear Mooney (but I always thought Mooney's were cool where as the aircraft technicians I've spent time around did not like them and would rather see a Cessna roll in).  A Grumman Tiger would also be more to my liking than this thing.

The barbells really say things; good catch on those.

not to rain on anybody's parade.. where the registration numbers?  Even an experimental plane needs numbers.  If they are missing, that raises a lot of questions.

If its light enough,  it could be an ultralight Some savvy designers have made them light enough to be fully enclosed,  and don't look like a lawn chair. The FAA doesn't consider them aircraft.

The aircraft in the original post is a TEAM Mini-Max. I've seen enough at Oshkosh to know.

TEAM Mini-Max

Decent aircraft with good flying characteristics. Always have been relatively cheap. The most important thing it needs is a complete builder's logbook and inspector signoff for me to feel comfortable piloting it, or any experimental for that matter.

N numbers on experimental aircraft that fly under 180 kts. need only be 3 inches high.

This simple aircraft is more thrilling than any Porsche, any Porsche ever made. Yes, any of them.
