What ever happened to this style of skateboarding?
(I'm not at all a skater, but this is super impressive)

You could even play as Mullen and do that kind of stuff in one of the later Tony Hawk games... 4 I belive.
Im still convinced he is a wizard, or some kind of alien.
That style of skateboarding was superseded by the more adventurous stuff. Watch the movie "Lords Of Dogtown" to see how it happened.
It's still alive. Very underground, though. There's one young freestyler dude who is a youtube sensation--can't remember his name.
Also, about 5 years ago, I used to skate with a dude named Terry Synott (who is now around 40). He actually got into the Cirque De Soleil for his skate abilities. His youtube clip got a million or so hits at one time.
BTW--I don't think much (if any) of the footage in that "2011" clip was from 2011--a lot of it is much older. Still--Rodney is a magician and one of the great elders of skateboarding. Tech street skating wouldn't exist without him.
Some of the things he did in those two videos were not possible in the Tony Hawk games. Interesting that with as over the top as the THPS franchise got, there were some things that didn't get put in the game because there was no way people would believe it even in a game.
Lots of truth here. Rodney is so awesome. There are so many over the top skateboarders who've devolved into just trying to knock out a pile of big tricks. You can get a glimpse into the soul of a guy like Rodney just watching him skate. You can tell he's got a sense of humor. So many kids I skated with in high school (probably myself included,) in part did it as a 'cultural' thing; a culture that guys like Rodney created...but never had much interest in participating in. The guy just loves to skate.
Props.

I used to be very active on www.skullandbonesskateboards.com
It's a forum dedicated to deck collecting. The dudes there can direct you to pretty much anything. It's crazy expensive stuff, though.
You'll need to log in to post.
