For the love of all that is holy................I finally am going to get to start working on putting the rear suspension of the Miata back together.

Long story short, it's taken nearly 6 weeks to have the rear control arms, stripped, dipped, powdercoated and sent back to me. But I got them this morning from FedEx.

So I'm going through my gigantic bolt order, organizing everything out, get to the Prothane rear control arm bushing set.......................missing two bushings!!!!!!

So now after waiting all this time I can only put in one side!

Yes, I realize it's completely my fault for not going through the box earlier to ensure it was all there. Not I'll be going through the others as well.

Ugh, perfectly awesome Saturday to spend in the garage (wife gone until tomorrow afternoon) and now I can only accomplish HALF of what I wanted.

Ok, I feel better now.

Yeah, I was just really hoping to get the rear buttoned up today. All the old bushings are out and I have all new fresh bolts/washers/nuts, etc to go back in, so it should have been pretty straightforward.

I'm debating going ahead and going to the liquor store for a sixer (so it can cool down since no 6pt cold here in OK) to wash away my disappointment at the end of the day.

Isn't that Prothane's SOP? Do they even have complete kits in the warehouse or does a myopic man just grab some random bushings and throw them in a box?

You can't buy cold six packs in Oklahoma?!

What about twelve packs?

Also what you buy is a lower alcohol percentage. No one told me this when I had to spend 8 weeks there. The next trip back I loaded up in Texas first.

^You can buy 3.2+ at the liqour store. And thankfully there are some liqour stores around here that are finally carrying a decent selection of microbres and imported stuff.

Woody wrote: *You can't buy cold six packs in Oklahoma?!* What about twelve packs?

Nope, nothing over 3.2 is sold cold.

All wine/liqour/real beer, is at the liqour store and room temp. No refrigeration. So the grocery store and gas station all you can get is 3.2.

Tulsa is widely considered "The buckle of the bible belt". Our metro population has the highest % of regular church attendance in the country.

You need to debate that?

Seems to be RockAutos head gasket kit practice. It is completely without logic what they included in that kit.

If it makes you feel any better, I did get accomplished what I wanted to today on the car, but I destroyed my elbow on a frame rail. It's sore as hell, and I have to play a gig tonight. Yay!

Maybe you saved yourself from a similar injury. Always look on the bright side of life....woo...wooo woo woo...

When I attended Gravelrama back in 1982 we were stuck buying 3.2 beer. The cooler ice was all water and the beer tasted like water. I quite drinking because I saw no point in drinking 3.2.

Today I realized that the guy I ordered a rare steering rack from is a serial time-waster

I had all kinds of plans today since the new turbo for the turbine came in. Unfortunately I have a couple of boys that couldn't behave this morning (fighting). As punishment they got to work in the yard all day. That meant I got to supervise/work too. Nothing I wanted to do got done, but on a positive note, a lot I needed to do got done.

I feel your pain. They better behave tomorrow or it's going to be a miserable day.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I went to install my new fuel pressure regulator today and Summit sent me one with two inlets. Fine - except I only ordered two fittings - one for in and one for out. Off to HD/Lowes to see if I can find a 9/16-18 bolt and some RTV Silicone.

Don't use RTV on fuel or you'll be making that noise again.

Teflon tape, pipe dope or #2 Permatex.

Didn't get nearly as much accomplished today as I wanted, but at least I finally got started on the rear suspension re-assembly. Still a TON of work today before I can get it out to the track.

I finally took some pictures, so I'll be starting a proper build thread pretty quick.

I used an o-ring instead. So tired. Having a lathe rules. Up until 3 berkeleying with it... now I'm packing the trailer, then I have to re-pressure test the damn thing. Why does nothing ever go as planned!?

I want to build the cars they use on T.V.

Those things go together in an hour with very little trouble.

The ones where everything fits and they don't get dirty at all?

Yeah. Me too. I'm rolling out for NJMP 5hrs later than I expected, no food in the cooler, stuff still to do, can't find my gloves (so there goes $80 at the track store...) and I'm running on 3hrs sleep. So, yeah, typical beginning to a race.

berkeleying fuel pressure regulator ain't leaking though.
