My wife occasionally watches "Scorpion". I can't watch for more than ten minutes before they do something so monumentally stupid and try to pass it off as science that I have to leave the room. At least MacGyver was believable, no?

FWIW, "blackish" and "Fresh Off The Boat" are two very smart comedies.
I still like Elementary and The Blacklist, too. Far-fetched, but well-thought-out.

FWIW, reality is "scripted actual stupidity". The "characters" are usually insufferable, too.
I pretty much stick to dr who, American dad, top gear (rip), and anything with Anthony bourdain in it
Edit: top chef junior gets my vote too. Those kids are flipping amazing.
Here is what I stick with: Simpsons, Family Guy, Black List, Fresh Off the Boat, Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods, American Pickers.
Here is what Mrs. DX and I watch together: Night Shift, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD.
For a smart show about geniuses, check out Silicon Valley, start from the beginning. Silicon Valley, South Park, and Better Call Saul is pretty much all the TV I watch.
Silicon Valley is to die for lol. If you've worked in and around academia, plus nerds all your life, it all makes sense.
does Ancient Aliens fit into this discussion at all?
those seem like some pretty smart people that have some pretty dumb ideas..
Silicon Valley, Best Bars in America, Brew Dogs, Game of Thrones, Strike Back, House of Lies, Shameless, Last Week Tonite.
Beyond that, just movies.
I thought I was enjoying last man on earth but now can't sit through the opening 5 minutes. The main character is a dick so I just don't care what happens to him and when a show gets too predictable I actually can't watch it.
I really hope Man seeking woman gets another season. That show constantly surprised me.
