It's Richard Scarry's 92nd Birthday (even though he passed in 1994). I grew up with his books as a child (and also his son's books). I think that in some way his books fueled my like for cars, trucks, and trains. I found some fan art from Christian Pearce. I thought this was appropriate for the GRM crowd.
Dingo Dog and his thirsty Red Roadster.
I loved those books growing up, and confess to have watched Busy Town Mysteries on CBS recently.
I still find myself asking this very same question:
Honestly, he probably had some of the most educational books for children. His attention to detail helped keep a Childs attention to the pages of the book. I always liked the vehicles of the certain people of Busy Town. The painters drove a Paint Can, Lowly Worm drove an Apple, etc. His detail to real vehicles was great too.

So that's why the home page has his artwork-style today.
Ditto that - I can't even imagine how many hours I spent looking through Things That Go while playing with my Matchbox cars when I was little.
I had a few of these sets as a kid before I found out about Lego. Between this and the books I spent hours looking for all the things hidden in each picture

I had a few of those books. They were my favorites by far. I used to like to track down goldbug too.
I seem to remember always trying to find Lowly Worm on every page, maybe I am confusing that with Goldbug. It's been a while!

That's neat. Wonder why I never heard of him?
His books are reason enough to have children. Rereading them has been totally awesome. Dude had a dark sense of humor. I think every one of his books has a pig working as a butcher or grocer selling legs of ham and sausages.

I had a few of his picture books growing up, but I remember the TV show most vividly.
I remember sitting in my Grandmother's finished basement (the play area for the kids) reading the books she had there.. fond fond memories

How many of you knew that Goldbug was on every page? I spent hours trying to find him, like the original Wheres Waldo...
I think he was only on every page in "Cars and Trucks and Things that Go!"
In most of the books, I think Lowly Worm was on every page.
