Start your own business.
Actually I think that could be awesome, if everyone could somehow afford it. Small businesses could merge with a partnership or employee-owned co-op structure instead of employer-employee arrangements. Everyone could benefit from improvements to productivity.

Yeah. Assembly line manufacturing is horribly wasteful.

There's no reason mass manufacturing with assembly lines couldn't coexist with a business structure where the workers are also owners, but I can see how the idea could be disruptive to existing ones...

And leadership by committee is so efficient.

You know you're describing communism, right?
And yes things like this *can* work on small volunteer scales. But it doesn't work if EVERYONE does it.
Don't turn your hobby into your day job.

Not at all, but the outcome might be vaguely socialism-adjacent. Oddly enough you most often see those kinds of business relationships/company structures among very highly paid professionals.

It sounds like the sort of thing that works, but not if *everyone* does it...

Hey - let's not make this political. Drop the argument/discussion. It doesn't matter and nobody cares.

Aren't we just redefining what it means to be a hipster? What isn't cool, is cool, until everyone thinks its cool, then it's not cool.
Along the lines of how can you tell with a high degree of certainty that a make and model of car will not be a hot future collectible? Find the ones everyone thinks will be hot collectibles. Then don't buy those.
