Section 32-6-9 of the bill orders that everyone with a valid driver's license should keep it in his or her immediate possession at all times.
I don't want to live where I have to carry identification in order to...well, live, basically.
And yes, they are already arresting people.
I mean that's stupid, but why wouldn't you carry one with you anyways?

That's my question. And really, it's extreme, but if they're looking to crack down on illegal immigration, that's a helluva start.

Like when I take a walk or when I mow the yard or when I am taking a leak? It doesn't leave room for exceptions.
Come to think of it, my wife rarely takes her license when we go somewhere together. I always drive. I always pay. She doesn't bring her purse.
F'ing Illegals, we'll show them!!!
Doh!

I don't know... maybe I woke up this AM thinking I didn't live in a police state. I probably should have seen that page 6 news item where a couple lawyers no one ever heard of had the authority to sign off on the assassination of a US citizen with no trial and been clued in to where we really stand... but lets assume I was out drinking and a little groggy from showing my hootus off at the hot tub and just left for a jog in running shorts with no pockets and also happened to be slightly brown in color.

Only one of my pairs of running shorts has a pocket. I lace the key into my shoes.

Back in 2000, Dudley Hiibel was forced in NV to produce ID for no given reason. See video in link.
http://www.papersplease.org/hiibel/index.html
When taken to the Supreme Court in 2004 it was ruled that you must present papers (ID) to any officer when they request it.

Well maybe I'm the exception, because I don't go anywhere without a photo ID. Even it's not my license.
What happens if I'm cycling and I get hit by a car. Who are the paramedics or police supposed to call? I keep it in my CamelBak.
Around here you can't go to a gas station, bar, or resturaunt without getting carded for purchasing alcohol. Even cigarettes.
If I do go jogging, All my shorts have a special flap for an ID hanging on the inside of the waist band.
Even if I'm not driving anywhere, I still have my wallet in my pocket.

Well... er... the hootus wasn't really mine. I was just holding it for a friend, yeah, that's the ticket.

The pockets are always useless anyway. If you don't keep your key in your laces it just bounces out of your pocket anyway.
I for one frequently leave my house without ID when I'm not going to be driving somewhere. This law seems pointless anyway, since there are plenty of legal citizens who lack driver's licenses.

These are all logical reasons to have it on you. Now, lets suppose you forgot once and were arrested. How do you like them apples?
No kidding that law is bullE36 M3. I understand why they want to do it but that is taking it too far. I don't always carry my wallet with me and why should I have to if I am not driving?

I think I'd rather just be that guy

I understand what your getting at.
Honestly, I don't leave my house until I have my wallet in my pocket. I have been late to stuff several times because I couldnt find my wallet.
The only time I leave my house without an ID is when I'm doing yardwork.
Seems a bit extreme to me.
But I can't think of any time I've encountered an officer and NOT been asked for my identification.
Question, are they stopping random people on the street, or is this a secondary offense? Like here in OK, a cop can't pull you over for your tint, but if they pull you over for speeding, they then can check the tint.

I started carrying ID when I run. What happens if you get hit, pass out, have a heart attack, etc....... Target usually has some lightweight athletic shorts that are good for running and have pockets. I have never had a problem with the card coming out.

This isn't you driving, carrying a firearm or whatever... this is just you walking along minding your own business... and you hear "Ihre Papiere Bitte" from the dude in the long gray wool coat. You can't say "I forgot them" anymore. Well, atleast not in any kind of accent that doesn't immediately sound like Skynard.
I think it would be a good idea to ask these "Illegals" to wear something to identify themselves like a yellow star or something. As long as the government promises that it will all be ok... I don't really see the problem.
The illegals issue is touchy enough as it is, there is no good way of going about scoopIng them up.

The police officer has to have a reason to pull you over.
Driving While Brown (D.W.B.) is robably going to be the #1 reason. Sure, they will stop a few white folks that look maybe like they come from S. Chile or Turkey because of the dingo-balls hanging from the visor or something.
If I even tanned well I'd be getting a Johnny Reb bumper sticker and practicing my slow drawl pronto.
