I've done a fair bit of competitive sailing in smaller boats and really fell in love with it. Most of the racing I did was under 10 knots but it was still pretty exciting.
The stuff at 40 knots is just another world, though. It is the best racing I've ever seen on the water. The technical feat of making a boat that can do that is impressive, but the athletes that are sailing these boats are even more incredible. To be in a boat that's bouncing between 10 and 40 knots, often getting blasted by seawater, and be able to manipulate the controls with speed and precision is beyond anything I've ever done. I used to look at the guys on the monohulls and think "I could do that." I can't do what these guys are doing.
Even if you love monohulls, these boats are great for the health of the whole sailing world. These are the boats that are going to excite people and encourage more people to get into the sport on every level.

I don't have the body type for that. It would just end up,
Great way to end it. Intense racing but no doubt Oracle Team USA was faster.
Hell of a comeback! Kept improving the boat and finding speed every day!

That's what the reply button is for. Otherwise, people think you're responding to the OP.

yeah... I understand that ... then I have to listen to all the people bitching about someone using the "in reply to" ...
I just figured (obviously incorrectly) that, since it was the very next post ... to the one mentioning plenty of small boat racing, that my saying no TV coverage wouldn't have been mis-understood .... my bad
I personally did not like the hydrofoil boats and I was rooting for the Kiwis due to their claim to wanting to return the AC back to "more sane levels"
that said, I did not get to watch it. I could not find it on the television and it was blocked on youtube in the US.
Did the Oracle skipper ever say, "I have not yet begun to race."?
Missed opportunity.
