The '70s were such a horrid time aesthetically.  Even in 1976 at the age of 11 I remember thinking what a shame it was that the US Bicentennial had to happen during the 1970s.

It was actually molded with joint lines, extra weathered grain, and nail holes.  Turd is right - a friend of mine's parents had one like that.

I started a new job about 8 months ago. This place, for better or worse, is stuck in the 80's, with a lot of carryover, from the 70's. On the weekend I was reading National Geographic mags from the 70's and early 80's and the best part were the ads. Did your TV have the Zenith Space command remote control?

I never even knew this existed. It was way ahead of the time, despite the name.

Space phone

Some models of Zenith's System 3 line of televisions made from the late 1970s to the early 1990s had a feature called the Space Phone by Zenith. It was basically a hands-free speakerphone built into the television set. It used the set's speaker and remote control, in addition to a built-in microphone. A Space Phone-enabled television would connect to a telephone jack (using a built-in phone cord), and making a call was performed by pressing a button on the remote to activate the Space Phone (which would mute and begin controlling the program audio going to the speaker). The telephone number is dialed using the numeric keys on the remote, which then displays the digits being dialed on-screen (using the on-screen display features of the System 3 line). The user could then converse with another caller hands-free, much like a regular speakerphone.

I'm just the opposite - I absolutely love everything asthetic from the 70's! From my closet full of vintage clothes(leisure suit, multiple embroidered cowboy shirts, a couple pairs of bell bottoms, etc.) to the brown paneling, shag carpet & decorative ceiling tiles of our living room, I love it all. Oh, and especially smog-era gigantic land-yachts. 

Weren't lava lamps a 70's thing?  Lava lamps are AWESOME!!!!

Love me some '70s.  (And '60s)

As long as it isn't Mediterranean or Colonial, It's All Good.  This is just a small sample of some of '70s stuff we own/have owned.

(I also have some really funkycool R,W&B Bicentenial stuff I need to drag out and photograph sometime)

I wish I had better pix, but we found this vintage Berman's leather jacket with a Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band patch.   Not a fan of Seger, so we sold it at the store.

You really think the current trend of "A picture of a floor on your floor" laminate flooring and "barn wood" crappy furniture is going to age any better?

Duke, you'll definitely not like this, but it's one of my prized possessions. It's a collection of early-70's decorating/remodeling/handyman projects. If I outlive my wife I WILL be doing some of these!
