Is that near Golden? I spent a good chunk of this past summer driving that constructions site.

The best part was returning from Banff and 10km away from Golden being turned back because it was closed and had to drive like 7 hrs back and then go the Radium Hot Springs route.  I should've arrived at 11 and ended up getting to my destination at 6am after deiving all night through some sketchy roads avoiding some large animals.

I never realized it was built like a shelf lol

They had an impressive amount of machinery. Never seen so many of these in the same spot.

Driven that many times. The old highway was way worse.

You always see mountain sheep on that drive.

"Don't look down" roads are way more common than people realize, often people don't notice because it isn't easy to see how high up you are while driving. This trail near Toronto has a few, one time I was riding across one on the sidewalk and had a peek over the side...then it felt like cranking up the first hill of a rollercoaster!

Cycle across the deception pass bridge in Washington State.

There's so much "don't look down" that I got off and walked.

In reply to ShawnG :

Drive a nice tall big windowed RV across it, it's a great view!

I spun out on Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon in BC once and I was busy putting my chains on my truck and I heard this kind of roaring noise and saw a truck was coming down the hill at me. He was jackknifed except having two trailers it was more of a u-shape. I ran to the concrete no post and got ready to leap over it because I was pretty sure he was going to take me and my truck out. But he actually hit the no post himself and wedged to a stop just before he hit my truck. So I was there for several hours while we sorted all that out and everyone got going again and I happened to walk over and glance down at the concrete barrier I was about to vault over and it was about 300 ft straight down to the river if I had done that. I got a really sick feeling in my stomach knowing how close I had got to jumping to my death.
