Wow what an ugly scene. Thanks for the link Trans_Maro. What a sad day in your city/countries history. I thought after 94,and last year during the Olympics that the citizens there would have learned to act better.

Not my link, it's from SkinnyG. He's a couple hours northeast of me.
Sounds like most of the real fans and civillians are out of downtown, just the professional E36 M3 disturbers left.
Apparently the riot batons and firehoses are coming out.
I hope they throw the book at these idiots and toss in a little police brutality too.

I've been watching for a while and following the different reports. I don't blame the average Canucks fan base and they shouldn't be vilified for it. Bad apples and anarchist types who have no care for the result of the game are the ones causing most of the issues. Mob mentality is baffling to me, and it's quite the amazing psychological study...
Anyone still up, check that link, Riot Police look like they will be mobilizing in the next 10 minutes or so, masking up and getting ready to regulate...
one of the best images i have found so far... http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/253436_218002028231631_100000655076382_707674_3500986_n.jpg
A kid bragging about breaking his hand while punching a cop and getting hit with a batton and mace ON FACEBOOK, this guy's going to be getting a visit from Van PD in the upcoming days...
A lighter side of riots, man takes a flash bang to the junk... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5aaxWub89k
I've been a Bruins fan all my life. I remember my dad telling me stories about how awesome they were in the early 70's, and how they could never be that good again. Glad to say my dad was dead wrong!!! All those years of suffering, choking, blowing games, etc. are all erased now. This team did it!!! I have been waiting for this all my life, and I'm going to enjoy it.
Thank you Bruins, it's been a hell of a ride!

Just like the internet, it provides a certain level of anonymity.
Equating what these people are doing with hockey, hockey fans, or "deserving to win the cup" is stupid, but statements like this
I hope they throw the book at these idiots and toss in a little police brutality too.
Are just plain funny.
I don't agree with what they are doing, not at all, but I'd like to know why the cops were not ready for it. It sure makes them look bad.
Is anyone suprised hockey fans would riot? I've been to maybe a half dozen Islander games and have seen fights in the crowd everytime. I am more shocked that there aren't riots every year. They make pro wrestling fans look like a night at the opera.

They were far more ready than they were 17 years ago.
This riot was worse, lasted longer and was mostly people who were simply there to cause trouble.

To be fair, you haven't actually been to a hockey game.
Fans and kids will create disturbances for just about anything. After the UBL death announcement WVU had over 30 fire calls for dumpster and couch fires. Win a ball game, lose a ball game= burn couches.
The university recently instituted a 'couch buy back program' for vacating students, I guess to keep old couches off the street.

Haha, I was going to lead with, "People actually go to Islander's games?" but I like your joke better...
Just wanted to bump this because I still can't believe the Bruins won!!! The parade was awesome as well. I think while my kids may not realize it now they will appreciate the fact that they were at the parade as well. They loved seeing "The Real Stanley Cup".
Let's Go Bruins!!!!!!
The Flyers were busy today (Mike Richards and Jeff Carter now have new homes):
