I think I've seen them used as planters for potatoes. Easy to tear down at the end of growing season, so you don't have to dig to get them out.

My biggest issue is that I've amassed a few dozen tires, but they're all on _wheels_. I hate the thought of paying a man $10/e to dismount the old tires just so I can pay $5 each to dispose of said tires. I have oneadem cheap Hammer Store tire mounters, and it works, but it's not easy and takes 10 minutes or so per tire.
What I really need is a teenager who I can pay to do little E36 M3 jobs around my house I don't want to do. Unfortunately the little VCH's are a few years away from being teenagers.
At my local dump it is $3 per tire and $5 if it is on a wheel
I happily pay it. Convenience is paramount on my precious, fleeting weekend time

Isn’t your place that could use a well constructed tire wall?
Edit: I didn’t see Ian F’s response
My standard joke is when I get charged a tire recycling fee is that I'll take them and toss them in a creek by my house. The tire guy usually freaks out.
I kid, I kid, it's a joke.
It's funnier when I'm buying a car battery.
I've always had the idea of making a backyard decorated to look like a race track. You have to have the lady of the house on board, or be single. My thought was a decorated garden with a "racetrack" as the path way. Tires as the "walls" and have flowers or interesting things planted inside. Paint the tires red and white like a track wall. Other upcycled car parts add to the fusion, and perhaps, even you, can end up in an issue of "Better Tracks&Gardens"
$6 each to get rid of them here. Totally worth it, as I can be there and back in ten minutes. It probably takes me longer to remember how to write a check. No cash / No cards.
Make friends with a guy who runs a tire shop! Otherwise I used to just pay the fee and move on with life. 2.50 a tire at Walmart here is cheapest
When the big trucks come to pick them up at the tire shops, who gets paid?
and when the trucks get rid of them, where do they go and who gets paid then?
I'm not going to say your local Carmax typically has a large bin facing the parking lot where they stash their used tires for pickup. That would be immoral.

Yes it is. Carmax you say?
But seriously, this is the sort of things my taxes pay for.
(On or Off the rim accepted)
Passenger or light truck tires only: Up to four tires are accepted without charge. A limit of four tires is enforced at the Recycling Centers. More than four tires will be accepted at the Millersville Landfill, for a fee.
This is not a complaint.
And the fact that I work at a car dealership means that my old tires never go home with me to be a problem.

So that’s what the shop supplies charge is for. Lol
I don't recall our local landfill charging anything for used tires. They just direct you towards the giant pile of tires.
My local landfill charged me $43 for a truck bed full. My main problem is storing them outside leads to breeding mosquitos.

If you put something out on the curb for free and nobody bites, stick a sign on it that says $50 and someone is sure to take it.
Had a tv a few years ago that I listed for free on CL - NOTHING.
Then I said, "hell, I'll put a price on it..."
Ten bucks - SOLD in two days.

My game is to just play the price up and down until something sells. Probably more the right person seeing it but I always kinda giggle when it's on an upswing and sells
