I picked one up off CL last night. The ad didnt have any real info so i didnt do any research beforehand. I figured dewalt always made good stuff, its old, its heavy, its cheap, good enough.
So i brought it home and when i tried googling it there was nothing. I dont just mean my model number, i cant even find any old dewalt drill presses. Strange, no? I didnt get many pics last night, but i did get the id tag. Any ideas?
I'm going to need more pictures. However a good place to start researching it would be www. Vintage Machinery. Org
I knew Duster would be in here. He’s got a thing for old tools. No homo.
Giggity.
Especially old WOOD tools....

Does it look like this?
Turns out DeWalt (the man) invented the radial arm saw back in the 20's, and then expanded the line from there. The main manufacturing plant was in Lancaster at least into the 60's.
There's probably someone over on the Garage Journal forum who's posted information on DeWalt drill presses.
I did some more searching on my lunch break and i found an article that said dewalt never made their own drill press, but they did put their name on some Atlas drill presses and sell them. Now i just need to try to match it up to an atlas to figure out what it was.
Old dude in the welding shop down the street had a huge old Dewalt radial arm saw in his compound, out in the rain. The blade had to be at least 18 inches.
Must have taken quite a forearm to control that thing.

The '40's vintage ones had a curve at the top of the head casting .
Enjoy it!
Just gonna say - looks like my Atlas. Very nice. I put a VFD on mine so it runs forward and reverse and infinite speed. I highly recommend it.
I also think there are some Deltas that look like that as well.
That's a good find.
