I agree it's hideous, but maybe the beer holder idea isn't all bad. Maybe they should just take the next logical step and actually mold the lenses with a recess (or two) that would serve as a proper cupholder.
I've heard there is some aerodynamic reason for them, but I hate them as well, and won't buy a car with them despite the added (and probably insignificant) fuel mileage.
I'm going to guess that the engineers can design a cheaper lighting system going this route rather then a smoother look. I can't see any aero advantage but who knows? And no I would not buy a car with such "bumps".
