My brother keeps sending me links to GSA auctions. Screaming deals, for sure, until I saw this: Sikorsky Blackhawk
Coppers. So many choppers.
But I'd settle for $10,000 for a McDonnel Douglas C-9

So... if I buy this C9A aircraft (and I admit it sounds very cool, even though it has been a "static display" for nine and a half years), the US government thinks that "Reusing this item instead of buying new is like saving the carbon equivalent of 120,721.09 gallons of gasoline used."
As my sons would say, How is that even a thing? I can't possibly buy a C9A new, and if I were to buy this one, I'm pretty sure my fuel consumption would go up. A lot. Pro tip, US goverment: not every algorithm fits every situation.
Industrial equity. All the pollutants from the C-9's manufacture are dumped in to the system already. The pollution from smelting, possessing, transport, etc... are were those gallon estimates are from.
OK, that makes a bit more sense... but there's still a lot of apples-vs-oranges going on. Kind of like that Fun Fact from a few years ago that a hypothetical brand-new 1964 Mustang parked in your driveway would emit more pollution than a current model driving down the Interstate, because of fuel vapor, off-gassing from old-style plastics, etc., etc.
Poking around, there looks to be some great pick up truck deals on there for those so inclined. Seems great for all the people bitching in the rust belt about the price of old trucks

daaaaaanag. I wonder how much it would cost to have that transported to my back yard? It would make a nice play/guest house! I have the room...
I tried to buy a MIG-15 that was on display and had fallen over (it was in the $2000-$5000 range). SWMBO went and got all reasonable on me, so I had to buy the Impala instead.
Friends of mine in school bought a MIG 21, I think it was. And a SU-something trainer. Can't buy them anymore thanks to Clinton 1.0.
Here is another good site for gov auction stuff: govdeals.com
This is where most of Missouri's cars go when they are sold.

And an airworthiness certificate, most military aircraft do not have one and can't recieve one

I'm going pedantic here, but that ain't the case in the Coast Guard. We get airworthiness certs. I'm pretty certain DoD does too- they don't have to, but they do.
E36 M3ter about the H60 is, those SOB's cost about $6k/hr to run. Not fun enough to justify. I'd rather have a Pitts S2-C for sheer grins at $50/hr. If you want badass for unlimited funds (@~$17k/hr), you want the Herk. I'm biased though.

Not completely true. They are expensive though. Usually have to go to manufacturer and get factory drawings and descriptions which will be costly then put together a packet IAW FAA Regs and submit and pay. Some more hoops you have to jump through but is possible, costly and time consuming.
We sold a few of our CH-47 Chinooks on GSA. Was a good deal too at $3,000,000.00. Yes, three million. And you want to talk a fuel bill. 1,048 gallons of jet fuel will last less than 3 hours of flight time.
