Bows, arrows, atlatl, etc.? Knapping flint? Recommended books or references?
made a few slings with ropes and duct tape. (well, a few times...) I did hit myself with a rock once but all the other times I was pretty amazed by the distance I could get from one of those (never got very accurate though)
Here's a great bow making thread by one of our regulars on the forum:

When I was a kid I learned how to make a dart-gun from a floor lamp by watching a Charles Bronson movie. Does that count? Had a lot of fun with it too. I improved upon his original design though, as I found that just using tape around the wrapped paper on a nail to make darts didn't hold up well. So I started using hot-glue to hold them solid.
Who needs anything else when you've already got 2 of the most basic weapons of all? Check out my guns!
Sportsmans Guide has a DIY longbow kit. It's backordered, but supposed to be in "any day now." I figger: do the kit, you'll know how to do it from a tree next.
There is a thread on here with a step by step for building a longbow. Searching from the phone sucks so you are on your own there.
Watch "Predator". Arnold makes a bow in the jungle out of found materials....
But realistically, I can't see needing bronze/Stone Age weapons. There are so many weapons in the world today with just a little scavaging you could find something far better than anything you are likely to make.

AHA! That's what I was trying to remember. I thought I saw something here on bow making.

That's not a weapon, that's a tool.
This year I plan on making both traditional and PVC bows. I will also be firing up the forge and making some tomahawk heads and maybe some knives. Leaf spring steel is your friend and I also have a bucket of old railroad spikes laying around in my shop.

Bookmarked that one.
Search instructables for any weapon. They have pretty much made it. Amongst Evertyhing else.

Just like there's no good reason to have old cars hanging around?
Seems like a great hobby- especially with so many of the primitive survival realtity shows- there's a lot of interest in survival with not much stuff.
How to make a usable ax with a stone, a stick and some binding.
How to make basic binding/rope before you've gotten any hide.
How to start a basic fire.
Just basic cool stuff to know. Ends up being as useful as being able to set points these days. You do it for fun reasons, not useful ones.
You'll need to log in to post.
