I may be headed that way on relatively short notice soon (after they give the for sure, I'll probably leave the next day). If someone had something they wanted from Germany I'd gladly pick it up for them and mail it when I got back (probably after the new year)
OR
If you wanted to ship something to Ramstein but loathed the cost of overseas shipping I'd gladly haul it across the ocean in my checked baggage for ya!
Cheers

According to that you'd be better off to buy here and sell there.

So tempted to click on that link, but probably not a great idea on my work computer
On a related note, I started watching the Netflix original show "Narcos" last night. Turns out cocaine trafficking is quite the lucrative business. It's absolutely stunning the rate at which guys like Pablo Escobar were making money back in the '80s.

Makes sense now that I think about it, we're closer to Colombia
Actually. I was talking about drugs to my Hungarian friend Balint. He started laughing when I asked if they had a meth problem like we do here ("here" being Washington state). He laughed. "you americans and your rich drugs. We cant afford stuff like that. Our druggies can only get paint thinner and krokadil"
I had to google "krokadil" when I got home. Holy smokes If you choose to google that yourself, warn your stomach first. The side effects are... well... something else.
(On the paint thinner: they put drops of paint thinner on their tongue and breathe in the fumes. The logic being it wastes less, and you keep breathing it in no matter what, thus increasing the high. woof)

I remember reading that at one time cocaine was the United State's single largest outgoing currency drain. Oil was #2.
I spent one night in Ramstein. November 1990. In a hangar, on a GI cot. With a Beretta M9 under my pillow. Because we were threatend with a transfer to Diego Garcia or the North Pole weather station if those pistols grew legs... Ahh, that was an intersting Desert Express run.

I once looked at a 1979 Z28 with no VIN at a shady used car lot. It had no VIN because it was in an evidence box at the local MA State Trooper barracks. It had been a coke runner in the 80's! If you ever saw the movie Blow, it very well may have been owned by the guy that movie was based on.

Here's what awaits you if you're brave enough to image search that.
Photographs of late-stage krokodil addicts are disturbing in the extreme. Flesh goes grey and peels away to leave bones exposed. People literally rot to death.

That is definitely the sketchiest used car I've ever heard of. berkeleying awesome!

I do believe that may have been mentioned in the show. Absolutely crazy.

I had the misfortune of Googling Krokadil a year or two back when my GF's state cop bro in law was telling us about the lecture he had to attend on the stuff. All I can say is I'm glad to be so fortunate as to live in a country where our addicts can afford all those hoity toity drugs, like meth and coke and heroin. I think I'd sooner stick my manhood in a wood chipper than do that stuff.
Well, the forum loved wagons and big power so I'd suggest picking up an Audi RS6.

Nothing against the Audi, but when it comes to 4-door wagons I want a Lada
Vagy Lada vagy semmi
I've got $500 right now for a rear window for an Opel Kapitan/Admiral/Diplomat "A" if you can get it to the US in one piece. Maybe more if necessary. I could also use almost all the lights and carpet if you find nice ones.
I was born in Ramstein, but was only there 6 weeks and haven't been back since.
Should not have googled krokodil. Holy berkeleying E36 M3.
Can you bring back cheap Euro spec late 80s bmw ellipsoid headlights? Like $40 for all four cheap?
Why is it that the more you warn me the more likely I am to Google stuff and regret it. Holy E36 M3balls that's nasty.
Never been there but the Band is Awesome!
So, Bill...which one is you? ...Cause you rock!
