I watch a lot of HGTV and half of the shows are
from our friends to the North. The Wheeler Dealers thread got me thinking, are there any Car Shows from Canada?
I was just curious because they have gotten a lot of cars that we haven't down here in the States.
Some new car review shows like Driving TV and there used to be one called Inside track.
A few years ago there was a reality show about demolition derby on OLN called Crash Addicts. It was worth watching just for the accents.

Canada's worst driver on Discovery - more reality...

What, do you mean like big international shows? Sure, there's Montreal in January, Toronto in February and Vancouver in April.

As it turns out, the best car shows are Canadian. Well, at least the hosts and producers are.
i forget what it was (is) called, but there was (is) one show where they restored musclecars and what not and they said "aboot" way too much.. it was hosted by a bigger bald guy and a little guy that did most of the talking and seemed to know the most about (aboot) the cars.
i remember one show where they finished up a resto on a 69 Camaro and took it for a drive.. the guy kept saying how awesome it drives and handles, but the steering wheel was aboot 1/4 turn off center and you could see that he was fighting to keep the car on the road- apparently a basic alignment isn't a part of a $100k restoration in Canada...
i can't remember if it was on TNN (now Spike), SPEED, or some other channel...

One of them was probably Tom Hnatiw. Makes you wonder how some of these shows actually get on TV. What's that all aboot?

Chop Cut Rebuild
There were a few "tuner" shows back in the day that were Canadian.

ya.. that's the one i was thinking aboot..
Chop Cut Rebuild is unwatchable.
Wasn't there a show call sports car illustrated or something. Kazzer was on it.
That was Sports Car Revolution.
SCR's leftover homepage with a plug for your favorite (misspelled) magazine.
Tom Hnatiw is actually a good friend of the magazine, and a neat guy from all reports. Well, almost all. I'm still waiting for my chance to party with him.
SCR also marks the small screen debut of Tim Suddard way back when the new MX-5 cup had brand new MX-5s and before Playboy was involved.

Are you sure it wasn't a Zed 28?

Sorry guys, was operating on about 3 hours sleep and a different time zone. The "little guy" from Dream Car Garage is Peter Klutt, a serious racer who operates Legendary Motor Car, which restores and sells all sorts of muscle and race cars.

There was also a makeover one--just remembered it--"Tuner Transformation" where they'd have someone give them their car and it would get re-done.
Suspension expert, engine expert and a "cosmetics expert" who'd put some awful graphic or awful paintjob on the car. It was a fun watch, but most of the builds made me cringe.

Yeah, with Johnny B. Although he acted like a dick on the show, he's actually a pretty nice guy.
True story, Tom Hnatiw is in Daytona Beach this weekend for the NARRA races. I saw him yesterday at the speedway.
Tom played the fall guy for Peter on the show. The slower lap times, being a rotund guy getting behind the wheel, etc ... he was always a good sport, he's the kinda guy that would be cool to hang out w/ in the shop
Tom was the announcer at Lime Rock for a bunch of events a few years back. He's great.
Best Canadian car show ever...

I seem to remember ACP (Andrew Comrie-Picard) hosting a show a few years back. He also did the Targa TV specials at least a couple of times.

Yeah, he and Jen Horsey did The Driver's Seat. Lucky girl was Ralph Gilles navi at Targa this year.
