Love the warmer weather and, GASP, grass.. But my asthma and allergies have been going nuts lately and I'm back on prednisone. I hate prednisone.

I lived near the grass seed capital of the world for ten years with no idea what allergies even were. Then one year Spring rolled around and they were so bad I couldn't even ride my bike to work (breeze on the eyes destroyed me). Had to walk (didn't have a running car), and couldn't leave the building for lunch or my face would explode all over again.
It's calmed down some, and I'm not quite as close to the haze of pollen, but it's never gone back to my previous imperviousness...
Cross your fingers you stay allergy-free!
Once the trees start blossoming, I get my ass kicked for a few weeks. Then it just becomes annoying for the rest of the summer.
It's about time for the pines around here to pollinate. Pine pollen is too large to cause allergies in most people but it's the one time of the year when I wish my cars were painted yellow instead of covered with yellow dust.
It doesn't bother me but the kid sounds like she has corks in her nose. It's not as bad as it's been in years past, maybe she is starting to grow out of it... man I hope so.
I never had allergies. Now at my advanced age, I find that I am allergic to cats and less allergic to some sorts of pollen. I haven't noticed any symptoms as yet, but my Bradford Pear is in full bloom, so it won't be long...
Man, I'm all jittery from the prednisone and inhaler.. Damn my defective body.. At least I can breath without coughing 3.87203 lungs up, which is a good thing.
Gad, misery loves company! I've been out enjoying the sunshine on my horse, but man, I'm paying for it. By the time I get in the car my gums are swollen, my nose looks like Alf and eyeballs feel like sandpaper. Thank god for Reactine.
My car was tinted yellow this morning. My Bradford Pear has already bloomed, but the Oak in the front yard is starting to crank up.

Right there with ya. Pine pollen is ugly and about the only thing to be loathed about a southern spring. It's bad when you have use the wipers to clear the windshields and keep them on while the damn stuff blows off the hood. Then, there the ugly pools of algae-looking stuff that are left everwhere after a brief rain. Uggh.
But, the weather has been nice enough to keep a few windows partially open all the time; I don't even care if the night temps are in the low 40's.
Just went through about 3 weeks of hell--allergies which turned into bronchitis (antibiotics took care of that)---and now some sort of allergic asthma---but thankfully, a medrol/prednisone pack and an albuterol inhaler took care of the "I can't breathe and feel like I'm dying" feeling. Almost back to normal.
Worst allergy season. ever.
I use to have to take Seldane when I was young. I played baseball and sometimes had to take one. It knocked me out and I had to miss some games. They pulled that from the shelves in the 90's. I've gotten better over the years, but its still there. Sometimes I'll wear a mask when mowing...I can only imagine what the kids say when they pass by.
Sometimes I don't know what is worse -- the symptoms, or the side-effects of to address the symptoms. Most allergy medication makes me easily agitated -- the combination of stimulants and depressants to keep it "non-drowsy" just doesn't work well for me.
The worst for me was Reactine -- which I have -rebranded as Over-Reactin'.
Thank God I don't have those allergies. Good thing because I walk property all the time. What I hate is from now till fall , when the tress are covered with foliage, you can't see far at all.
Years ago I used to have to go into cotton gins early in the fall when farmers were starting to pick cotton. The dust or something in the gins would set me off and I would produce copious amounts of mucilage. Just like one of our salesmen did in the spring in wheat fields.
I tried everything imaginable, and now I just deal with it. I didn't have allergies until I was 30 years old, and now 20 years later it seems easier to just put up with it. But it sucks.
Thanks for the reminder to load up on Zyrtec on the way home.
I'd suffered with allergies for years until a friend told me to try Zyrtec, it works great for me when nothing else has.
Although I'm sure you guys on prescription stuff have already given it a shot.
I never had alergies until about 8 years ago. I feel everyones pain with the sniffles issues and sore throat. I started using Aller-7 a few years ago and now have very few issues. GNC used to sell it. Now I have to order from www.Vitacost.com. It takes a couple of weeks to start working, but can be a good option for some. I like it because it is not an antihistamine.

Yeah, I've totally got the fear right now. The pollen hasn't started flying yet... but it will. At which point I'll turn into a snot-nosed 3 year old for 3-4 months.
I started getting allergy symptoms a few years ago in my mid 30's - living on Clariton 24hr... and then in 2009, I spent most of the Spring outside... and nothing bothered me... I spent less time outside during 2010, but symptoms were still light... Who knows what 2011 will bring...
Anybody have chronic Sinusitis? I used to take Guafenisin (have no idea how to spell it, but it sounds like that). It was a wonder drug for me until they took it off the market. Musinex has it in it, but at 1/6 the dose I took. I'd go broke buying that much musinex. Anybody had any luck with something else?
