I have a million of them, but my most recent is "Shooting Brake". I know what it is and where it came from, but come on, this is a recently overused term to make "Station Wagon" sound more glamorous! Call it an "Estate" if you will, just don't call it a Shooting Brake in front of me.

One more you can add to the list is the incorrect "2 cycle" used instead of the proper "2 stroke" . It's only one cycle for those 2 strokes, just like it's one cycle for the 4 strokes. I've seen automotive magazines use both in one article. Not GRM though, or at least I've never caught it.

That's it as I could type all day listing them all

I need a "toon-up" on my 2010 F150.

  • No, no you don't. You need spark plugs, maybe. Let me look at the truck and see what you need.

My brake "rotaries" are messed up.

  • They're called rotors.

high octane fuel, and the people that don't understand it all, but pretend they do.

I hear people say they get more HP (in their stock low compression car), or that it cleans out the injectors, but the worst is multiple people have told me that when the put the 93 or higher fuel in, their car runs at a lower RPM at the same speed (2000 rpm with high octane, and 2500 with regular.. both at 60 MPH).

People in the fast lane who shouldn't be.

Texting and driving. I hardly ever see it up here. Went to Atlanta last weekend and was SHOCKED at how many cars I passed where the driver was staring at his/her lap or driving with their forearms holding the phone with their hands. E36 M3 is terrifying!

It's a real thing, manufacturers label their own parts by "stage." (going from 1 which is "slightly better than OEM" to 4 which is "super serial racing stuff").

I guess you could find a model number to avoid using the "stage" label...but they're not making it up.

I know its a real thing but its over generalized, people will just go buy a stage 4 clutch because it must be more JDM awesome and etc, yet they are clueless on their application needs and just like to throw buzz words around.

for example I wanna know sprung or unsprung hub, puck or solid disc and etc its more descriptive than STAGE 2 ZOMG.

A good friend was an over the road truck driver for a while. He said it was TERRIFYING how many idiots are texting while driving.

As amazing as it sounds I've run across two motorcyclists texting while riding! (both on Harleys) One was in traffic going through the heart of Denver on I-25! Just nucking futz!

People too lazy to turn the steering wheel enough when making a turn. You pull forward, crank it over, and proceed. Everyone around here doesn't turn, they curve. I understand that it's necessary at tight intersections with left turn "leading green". After all, if everyone did 90s without enough space, they'd collide. But when someone's on my right at a 4-way stop and damn near hits me when making their left turn, they're just berkeleying lazy.

Oh, and people who can't be bothered to keep right on any unmarked slab (parking lot, etc.). In the US, we drive on the right..and most civilized nations choose one side or the other. If it ain't marked "one-way", you shouldn't be in the middle.

I can kinda-sorta see it as dropping a word out of "two stroke cycle" (it's a "two" cycle and not a "four" cycle) but yeah, annoying.

How about stall converters? Those must be like duration cams or ratio gears...

But it's also entirely meaningless.

I mean, yeah Buick had the Stage 1s and Mopar had the Stage II/Stage III Wedges, but that's 60s stuff. I thought the import dorks hated American iron.
