Round went through the quarter and inner quarter panel as well.
If this required autocross and HPDE skills was there a chase involved? We need the deets (but understand if decompression is needed)!!!
So-bonus for it being a gas door as your only external damage. It should be a reasonably cheap and easy repair.
Next question-can we make guesses as to what kind of vehicle it is? It has a sport ute ish rear pillar and glass, but the panasport/minilite type wheel throws me off.
Crime lab extracted the round this morning, unfortunately the damage isn't just to the fuel door. Attempted carjacking in Mount Vernon neighborhood, kid couldn't have been older than 14.

Without self incriminating, driving techniques up to and including Scandinavian flicks, left foot braking and hand brake turns were utilized. Having them committed to muscle memory, no joke, possibly saved my life.

Damn dude, I'm glad you're okay! Did they catch the perp?
Not yet, the most likely ID'ing will be courtesy of the camera footage of him hanging across the hood of the car for about 4 blocks. I was desperately trying to toss him wide off the side to not kill the kid.
Also, 2020 sucks.

So is the footage on YouTube yet or too soon?

I don't have a dash camera but the city has cameras everywhere. I doubt that they're going to want to post it up, but I sure as hell want a copy. Ronin: Baltimore

I had a guy casually open my passenger door about a block from my house at a red light. I took off. Saw him in my mirror tumbling down the road. Was not particularly concerned about his well being, to be honest.

Foia that E36 M3, asap (if possible). Glad you're ok!
Given that you are the Captain of the downshift.... I have to wonder if the perp would have been able to control the 3rd pedal or not?
Is a manual trans a good defense against car jacking?

Considering the fact that the perp was willing to shoot the car in a failed carjacking attempt I'm not sure I would want to be around to witness his frustration.
