Suspicions should inspire curiosity, not cynicism.
Washington Post said: The Washington Post on Friday, October 4, 1991 said this: House Democrats criticized President Bush yesterday for using Education Department funds to produce and broadcast a speech that he made Tuesday at a Northwest Washington junior high school. The Democratic critics accused Bush of turning government money for education to his own political use, namely, an ongoing effort to inoculate himself against their charges of inattention to domestic issues. The speech at Alice Deal Junior High School, broadcast live on radio and television, urged students to study hard, avoid drugs and turn in troublemakers. “The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students,” House Majority Leader Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.) said. “And the president should be doing more about education than saying, ‘Lights, camera, action.’ ” Two House committees demanded that the department explain the use of its funds for the speech, an explanation that Deputy Secretary David T. Kearns provided late in the day in a letter to Rep. William D. Ford (D-Mich.), chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee. Education Secretary Lamar Alexander was out of town. [...] Rep. Patricia Schroeder (D-Colo.), chairwoman of the Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families, said it was outrageous for the White House to “start using precious dollars for campaigns” when “we are struggling for every silly dime we can get” for education programs. Rep. Martin Frost (D-Tex.) said that if Bush feels obliged to use government funds to hire outside consultants “to make him look good,” then he should fire some of the public relations experts on the White House payroll. “Then the president might be more sympathetic to unemployment benefits,” Frost said, referring to Bush’s threat to veto legislation to extend benefits.

I am curious. When I click on your profile I cannot tell where you are from or what kind of cars you drive.

Absolutely. Make it another Puerto Rico. If the Obama pantywaists would only have the Cajones to see the world as the playground for American power that it really is. If not for the liberal mainstream media we would all realize that the war in Iraq was a cakewalk. Margaret Thatcher would know what to do. Afghanistan is allot like the Falklands, except with several million people of many different tribes that hate each other who live in an insanely mountainous and large country with no roads that has never been successfully invaded in known history. Hearts and Minds my ass, roast the hearts in napalm and the minds will follow. Palin 012!!!

Easy on the caffeine there, hotshot. You might want to consider a couple facts:

The Taliban is not a very large organization. The whole country does not need to be napalmed. Tell the military they can do what they need to do in the areas where it needs doing and stand back; the problem could be fixed pretty quick. Once the Taliban is quelled, a lot of the other problems would begin to fix themselves.

Playground for American power? Cracker, please. Quit drinking the -ISM. Ever watch 'Charlie Wilson's War'? True story. A lot of what is now wrong in Afghanistan could have been avoided had we built and kept a presence there when the Russians pulled out. But nooooo, we can't have 'American power' projected across the globe. Oh, and let's not forget Somalia. Now that they threw us evil nasty Americans off the premises they have created a new growth industry: piracy.

Until a decent number of boots hit Iraqi dirt, yeah things were going REAL bad. Seems a lot quieter now, doesn't it? But let's not allow inconvenient things like facts to get in the way.

Another Puerto Rico? Snatched from Wiki:

After the ratification of the Treaty of Paris of 1898, Puerto Rico came under the military control of the United States of America. This brought about significant changes: the name of the island was changed to Porto Rico (it would be changed back to Puerto Rico in 1932) and the currency was changed from the Puerto Rican peso to the United States dollar.[29] Freedom of assembly, speech, press, and religion were decreed and an eight-hour day for government employees was established. A public school system was begun and the U.S. Postal service was extended to the island. The highway system was enlarged, and bridges over the more important rivers were constructed. The government lottery was abolished, cockfighting was forbidden, and a centralized public health service established.[30]

Horror of horrors. Will it never end? Somebody throw the US off that little island which continues to freely vote itself a US Commonwealth and not a state.

I've been to Puerto Rico. All this talk of Napalm has me thinking of Puerto Rico. I'll leave it at that and I won't even mention Neutron Bombs.

Now, when I wuz in Dallas a couple weeks ago, I was standing in the food court line at the Oracle building. A guy standing with me was talking and we got to talking. His brother is over in Afganistan. I asked him how the rules of engagement affected his brother. He said his brother told him they can only shoot at people directly and immediatly shooting at them. 2 guys were on the hill shooting at them. They called for air support. A chopper showed up and saw 2 guys right there where they were taking fire from. However, the 2 guys had hidden their weapons, so, no weapons, no OK to kill the people who just minutes before were trying to kill this man's brother. They let them go to kill other Americans later. That's what Afganistan has become.

The first time we went into Afganistan, it was all over in a few weeks, if I recall. Didn't quite catch that OBL doode, but he's probably dead now anyway, maybe from being forced to live in a cave in Tora Bora while giant bombs drop on top, maybe from his other medical issues. Doesn't matter. And I remember all you lefties in '08 biatching about how Iraq as a bad thing and we really needed to ramp up the war in Afganistan. If the search function on this board worked better, I'd go pull those quotes. You know who you are, if you can remember that far back.

I have a Prelude, a Civic and a Sonoma.

Where/what is this "Thunderdrome" of which you speak? It may be worth a look-see if racing, beer and women are part of the package.
